Fans were taken aback as My Hero Academia Chapter 428 finally unveils the outcome of Edgeshot following the Final War.
Despite not being a prominent figure in My Hero Academia, Ninja Hero: Edgeshot plays a significant part in the Final War. While he has always been depicted as a cool character, his brave actions towards the end of the war greatly resonated with readers.
Despite Bakugo’s near-death experience following his confrontation with Shigaraki in Chapter 362, fans were devastated. However, near the conclusion of the war, the beloved hero made a surprising return, all thanks to Edgeshot.
Despite All Might’s courageous and iconic rematch against All For One, he was ultimately defeated. However, his student was able to accomplish what he couldn’t. In a surprising twist, Bakugo emerged, though injured, but still determined to fight.
#MHA428 #MHASpoilersI’m so obsessed with Katsuki looking completely defeated and guilt-ridden because Edgeshot might be a worm forever, just for him to put his arms on his hips and tell him off for the guilt all dad-like 😭 im going to be insufferable about this panel im sorry pic.twitter.com/tzysb9izkR

It was then revealed that he had come close to death, but was rescued by Edgeshot. The Ninja Hero utilized his Quirk to enter Bakugo’s body as a thread and sacrificed most of his own body to seal the young man’s heart.
This courageous deed, however, came at a great expense for the Pro Hero, which is revealed in My Hero Academia Chapter 428.
In the chapter, Bakugo and the rest of Class 2-A assist with rebuilding the destroyed buildings for the civilians. Among them are also some Pro Heroes, such as Edgeshot. However, the man’s demeanor is noticeably different from before.
Ever since he used most of his body to seal Bakugo’s heart, he has been reduced to a miniature size. Despite this, he confesses to the Explosion user that he can never return to his original form, but he remains determined to give his all in this new state.
Despite the admirable attitude that makes him a more likable character, some fans are upset about how he gets to live as a tiny thread plushie while Toga died from blood loss. Even so, he manages to elicit a genuine smile from Bakugo, which is always a positive in the eyes of fans.
“Some users on X/Twitter expressed their frustration over the fact that the character Toga died due to losing a small amount of blood while another character gets to live as a piece of string. They perceived this as a biased decision by Hori.”
Another person commented, “So let me get this straight, Edgeshot and Dabi somehow managed to survive everything, but Toga, who just selflessly donated her blood, is the one who’s dead?”
A third person joined in and declared, “I still have complete faith in Hori and refuse to believe that thing is alive. Toga, no.”
Despite hints of Toga’s death in My Hero Academia Chapter 428, there has not been any official confirmation. Perhaps the next chapter, which is the second to last in the long-running manga, will provide more clarity on the matter.
