My Hero Academia could be introducing Deku’s greatest burden yet and chapter 419 sets it up

The release date for My Hero Academia chapter 419, April 8, 2024, has not arrived yet, but the spoilers for this chapter have already been revealed. According to the spoilers, this chapter could potentially set up one of the most devastating events in the series so far.

In chapter 418, it was revealed that Shihgaraki had access to All for One’s memories, allowing him to witness a conversation between his father and the antagonist. The most recent chapter further solidified this information, confirming that All for One was responsible for Tomura Shigaraki’s birth and bestowed upon him the quirk decay from the beginning.

In addition, Chapter 419 provided further evidence that All for One obtained the quirk Decay from Dr. Garaki’s laboratory. It was Garaki who had previously revealed Deku’s quirkless state. This has led fans to make connections and speculate that Decay may have originally been Deku’s inherent quirk, but was taken from him by Garaki and given to Shigaraki.

Based on the spoilers for chapter 419, the chapter began with Deku and All for One engaging in a conversation. All for One expressed his anger towards Deku for his actions towards his brother Yoichi, who was no longer present. The villain then proceeded to make fun of Tomura for his attempts to appear clever, as he was succumbing to the darkness of his own mind.

All for One then began recounting how he had carefully manipulated Tomura from the beginning, revealing his memories to him. He began by explaining how he had discovered the trick to obtain One for All during his attempt to capture En and Banjo. This trick involved surpassing their strong willpower, and he employed this strategy in his plan to create Tomura Shigaraki.

His plan began with manipulating Tenko’s father into having another child once his sister passed the age of quirk manifestation. From the moment Tenko was born, he closely watched him, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. He then brought a young Tomura to his home, where he stole the child’s natural quirk, which had not yet been revealed.

After translating a quirk with multiple abilities, he discovered that All for One had altered it to only possess its destructive ability. Obtained from Dr. Garaki’s lab, this quirk became infamous as ‘Decay.’

Subsequently, they were both expelled from Tomura’s mind. All for One, who now inhabited Tomura’s body, attempted to continue his pursuit of global control, but was intercepted by reinforcements who came to rescue Deku.

It is noteworthy that Tomura’s quirk was not originally ‘Decay’, as All for One had altered it to only retain its destructive aspect. The chapter did not disclose All for One’s memories prior to his goal of developing Tomura. Therefore, the origin of Dr. Garaki’s acquisition of such a remarkable quirk remains unknown.

In the first episode of the series, a doctor resembling Dr. Garaki declared Izuku Midoriya to be ‘quirkless’. Many fans theorize that Izuku’s quirk, which eventually manifested as ‘decay’, may have originally belonged to him and was taken by All for One. It is believed that Garaki then stored the quirk for later use and declared Izuku to be quirkless.

As the story unfolds in the upcoming chapters, All for One’s memories may shed light on this revelation. Many fans believe that Deku, after witnessing a distressing memory, may confront Shigaraki and reveal himself as the one who caused the death of his loved ones, potentially exhibiting his typical selfless behavior. In an attempt to ease Shigaraki’s burden, Deku could take on all the responsibility and inspire him to keep fighting.

Additionally, in addition to his selfless nature, Deku embodies the qualities of a true hero by consistently striving to alleviate the struggles of those around him. Despite carrying a heavy burden as the wielder of the quirk Decay, Deku empathizes with Shigaraki, who also faced a similar weight when his own quirk manifested.
