My Hero Academia: Deku could still have One For All after all

One fan theory suggests that Deku may not have actually lost One For All during the Final War, despite the biggest twist in My Hero Academia being his supposed loss of the powerful Quirk.

Ever since the start of My Hero Academia, Deku has possessed One For All. His role model, All Might, bestowed the Quirk upon him in order to give him a genuine opportunity to achieve his goal of becoming a hero. From that point on, he has devoted himself to mastering the formidable Quirk through tireless effort and determination.

Despite his determination, he was ultimately forced to relinquish his role in the final battle against Shigaraki. The turning point came when the villain successfully acquired Danger Sense, and with it the power of the fourth user, Shinomori, from Deku. This prompted Kudo to devise a strategy to transfer the remaining past users to Shigaraki in order to defeat him from within.

Despite the immense guilt of relinquishing All Might’s precious gift, Deku made the decision to transfer all of the other Quirks to Shigaraki. As a result, he was left with only the remnants of One For All, mirroring All Might’s own state after passing the Quirk onto Deku.

Despite the character’s upcoming loss of his Quirk, it was a somber moment for both him and the readers. Despite not currently being Quirkless, he will soon lose his abilities when the embers finally extinguish. After enduring a lengthy journey, nobody wants him to revert back to being Quirkless.

According to a popular My Hero Academia theory, Deku still possesses One For All, even though it may not be in its ultimate state. The theory suggests that the embers represent the Quirk’s initial stage, rather than its end. By relinquishing the powers of the previous users, it has reverted back to its original form, similar to how Yoichi first manifested it.

The Quirk will continue to grow in strength alongside Deku. If he were to pass it on to another person, it would become even more formidable. This may have also been the case with All Might’s remaining power. However, unlike Deku, the previous top hero was too injured to further develop his abilities.

All Might’s retirement was solely due to his inability to handle the immense power of One For All. However, Deku, being young and in excellent physical condition, has the potential to harness the Quirk’s strength with his unwavering determination to protect others. This will ultimately strengthen the Quirk for future generations.

One Reddit user noted that an interesting aspect is that Deku has not mentioned his embers weakening. This is in contrast to All Might, who frequently expressed concern about his weakening embers and decreasing time limit. It is possible that we may see a reversal, where Deku’s embers are shown to be growing stronger.

Another person joined in, saying, “Let’s continue to cultivate strength together, for the benefit of all.”

“According to a third person, Deku had a year’s worth of accumulated power, in addition to the already impressive lifetimes of experience OFA had accumulated. With his cautious approach, it is believed that Deku will be able to effectively manage the remaining power for many years to come, even if he occasionally uses a large amount at once.”

Despite nearing its conclusion, My Hero Academia still has two chapters remaining: Chapter 429 and Chapter 430. In one of these final chapters, we will finally discover if Deku still possesses his Quirk.

Prior to that, discover the reasons behind the delay of My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 12 and the source of fans’ frustration with Chapter 428’s cliffhanger.
