My Hero Academia: Deku Losing his arms may have been Horikoshi’s most pointless stunt yet

It has been announced that My Hero Academia chapter 420 will be released on April 15, 2024. However, spoilers for this chapter have already surfaced. These spoilers reveal that reinforcements have joined the final battle, providing a glimmer of hope for the injured Deku in the concluding war arc.

The chapter additionally highlighted the reunion of a former trio and suggested that there is still hope for the heroes.

In the previous chapter, Deku suffered the loss of his arms while trapped inside Shigaraki’s consciousness. However, in the latest installment, Aizawa was able to restore Deku’s hand using Eri’s quirk powers. This proved to be a fortunate turn of events as the protagonist’s abilities were crucial in the battle against the villain. Nevertheless, it could be argued that the author’s decision to have Deku lose his hands was somewhat unnecessary, as they were ultimately recovered in the following chapter.

Please note: This article may contain spoilers from the My Hero Academia manga series and reflects the author’s personal opinions.

Based on the spoilers for chapter 420, the chapter opens with a flashback to a moment on an island where Mike, Aizawa, and Kurogiri were present. During this time, Mike was scolding Kurogiri for manipulating the body of their friend. In response, the villain began to cry, bringing a glimmer of hope that Shirakumo’s consciousness may still exist within the villain.

After creating a white spark, they applied it to Kurogiri. This caused Kurogiri to call Mike by his given name, causing the hero to shed tears. Aizawa remained calm and utilized Kurogiri’s power to gather as many heroes as he could to aid Izuku.

Therefore, using the villain’s quirk, he teleported to the location where a group of U.A. High School students were engaged in a battle against Gashly. The other teachers joined him and together they were able to defeat the villain, allowing them to safely escort all of the U.A. High students back to Deku.

The focus of the chapter then turned to the present moment, with Aizawa standing behind Deku and inquiring about the situation. After a brief conversation, Aizawa utilized a horn belonging to Eri and pierced it into Izuku, allowing him to access her powers. This resulted in Midoriya’s hands being healed and the chapter concluded as more heroes arrived at the scene.

In chapter 362, fans witnessed a comparable event as Bakugo attempted to face Tomura Shigaraki alone and was impaled in the chest. He sustained serious injuries and many fans believed him to be deceased. However, Edgeshot intervened just in time and promised to rescue him with his Ultimate Move: Zenith.

In chapter 403 of My Hero Academia, the impulsive hero made a dramatic comeback just as All for One was about to eliminate All Might. After sharing a tense stare, Izuku and Bakugo sprang into action, with Bakugo leaping towards Izuku who then pushed him towards All Might. Thanks to their quick thinking, they were able to rescue All Might and defeat All for One.

In chapter 420, Kohei Horikoshi utilized two panels to create a ‘shock’ for fans, which was reminiscent of a similar scenario. While this resulted in Bakugo defeating a major antagonist and Deku potentially aiding in future chapters, it was an unnecessary development.

Conclusion

Currently, Midoriya does not possess a quirk as he transferred all of his quirk factors to Shigaraki while in the villain’s consciousness. However, the fact that he has regained control of his limbs suggests that he may still have a chance to participate in the final battle.

It is possible that either one of the remnants of One for All remains within him, or he may soon manifest his yet-to-be-awakened quirk. The latter scenario may be more intriguing, but it is important to remember that these are just theories and it is best to wait for official confirmation from the source material.

The release date and time for chapter 420 of My Hero Academia has been announced.
