My Hero Academia: Deku might cultivate a society better than All Might ever did and the latest chapter proves it

Following the conclusion of the final battle in the My Hero Academia manga, the focus of the series has shifted towards the country’s recovery. The government and higher officials have been diligently working to repair the destruction caused, including the clean up and reconstruction of buildings that were damaged during the war.

Despite the physical destruction caused by the war, the damage was not solely limited to infrastructure. The war also eroded the trust of citizens in heroes to protect them. Nevertheless, after Deku’s victory over Shigaraki Tomura and All For One, the citizens gradually began to regain their faith in heroes. This newfound trust was coupled with admiration, as the citizens worked to emulate Deku’s bravery and resilience in the war.

It could be argued that Deku’s actions during the war had a significantly greater influence on society compared to the former No.1 Hero, All Might.

Please be aware that this article includes spoilers from the My Hero Academia manga.

How did Deku cultivate a better society than All Might?

Despite being considered one of society’s greatest heroes, All Might and Izuku Midoriya did not see eye to eye when it came to their perspectives on villains. While All Might did empathize with their pasts, he did not believe they were capable of redemption. He maintained his belief that it was most important to defeat his enemies quickly and regardless of their strength or weakness.

Despite Shigaraki Tomura being known as one of the most terrifying villains in history, Deku’s desire to help others and guide them towards redemption was unwavering. He refused to let Shigaraki’s past and current actions define him and instead saw the crying child within him. Even when All Might attempted to dissuade him, Deku remained determined to aid the All For One user in overcoming his inner conflicts and finding the right path.

This perspective adopted by Deku sets him apart from the heroes of the past. He not only strives to defend the innocent, but also seeks to eliminate the malice within the villains.

During the final battle against All For One, Deku’s determination was once again on display. Despite his injuries, he refused to stand idly by and watch. Instead, he charged towards All For One, determined to defeat him with the support of his comrades. Thankfully, he emerged victorious, restoring peace to society.

The impact of that incident remained ingrained in society as many people felt a strong desire to assist others in any way possible. This theme was also reflected in My Hero Academia chapter 429 when the elderly woman, who had previously left Tenko Shimura to rely on a hero for help, changed her approach. After witnessing Deku’s battle against All For One, she no longer wished to remain passive. When she encountered a troubled and enigmatic child on the street, she took the initiative to reach out and offer her support.

As a result, Deku’s personality and actions may have had a more positive impact on society compared to Toshinori Yagi’s tenure as All Might.
