My Hero Academia: Deku’s Bittersweet Ending

My Hero Academia: Deku’s Bittersweet Ending

The release date for My Hero Academia chapter 430 is August 5, 2024, however, the spoilers for the final chapter have already been revealed. This chapter will bring about the conclusion of the series, showing the heroes in their daily lives. While most students have stayed on their paths and achieved fame as heroes, the fate of the protagonist is bittersweet.

Despite the series undergoing a time skip of 8 years, Deku remained a teacher after the events of the previous arc, which was a rather sorrowful decision considering his pivotal role in the victory against the villains during the final war. While his peers continued their journeys as heroes, Deku had to diverge from his own path as a hero.

Please note: This article includes possible spoilers from the My Hero Academia manga series and reflects the author’s personal views.

Exploring the heartbreaking ending Deku received in the finale of My Hero Academia

In My Hero Academia chapter 430, Izuku Midoriya began by writing in his diary about his experiences as a young hero. The story then shifted to a scene where Izuku, now a teacher, was approached by Kota who asked about their next lecture location.

Following the time skip, Izuku remained a teacher at U.A. High School. However, significant changes occurred for other students. Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki were now in fierce competition for the top spot in the Hero Society, with Bakugo currently holding the title of number 1 hero.

Shouji was commended for his efforts in combating heteromorphs. Uraraka’s Quirk Counselling Expansion Project involved visits to various schools by herself, Iida, Momo, and Tsuyu to provide counseling. While there was little information about the involvement of other students, it is possible that they were also working on their own hero projects.

Despite all of this, Deku was the sole individual unable to continue his path as a hero. This could be attributed to the dwindling remnants of his quirk, or his determination to never allow any student to doubt their potential to become a hero, as he himself had achieved this without relying on a quirk.

As the chapter came to a close, All Might presented Izuku with a new hero suit inspired by the legendary battle between the former Symbol of Peace and All for One during the final war. Sadly, this only adds to Deku’s already tragic story as he spent over 8 years of his life without a quirk. Continuing his journey after such a long time would undoubtedly be a difficult task.

Concluding Remarks

The fans were taken by surprise with Deku’s ending in the series. From the first chapter where he declared himself to be the greatest hero, the series could be seen as his journey towards achieving that goal. Ultimately, his role in the final war solidified his place as the greatest hero.

The fans were hoping to see Deku continue his journey as the heroic figure he was in the finale of the war arc. Although he received a new hero suit, similar to how All Might did when he lost One for All, it would be shameful for a hero to depend on technology when he was once a shining example all on his own. Deku should have carried on with OFA alone and retired as one of the most legendary heroes in history.
