My Hero Academia fans should be worried about the series ending after chapter 429, and for good reason

After the publication of My Hero Academia chapter 429, the manga series is gearing up for its final chapter. While some fans may be anticipating the end of the series and eagerly awaiting the release of the last chapter, others may have concerns about how it will ultimately conclude.

The latest manga chapter featured Ochako disclosing Himiko Toga’s fate and taking responsibility for her death. Meanwhile, Deku also pondered the possibility of Tenko Shimura’s survival. In a heartwarming moment, an elderly woman from Tenko’s past reached out to a distressed child, potentially bringing an end to his suffering.

Despite the positive reception towards how manga creator Kohei Horikoshi handled Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka in chapter 426, there were some fans who were left wanting more. While the manga did hint at a deepening of their relationship, it did not explicitly show a confession scene, leaving some fans feeling disappointed. As a result, for those who had been eagerly anticipating this development, the events may have seemed underwhelming.

Despite the perceived lack of development in the romance between Deku and Ochako, it is not a major concern among the many plot points that require more attention in the manga.

Firstly, the manga had a rushed ending. Although the manga author dedicated five epilogue chapters to conclude the series, it proved inadequate as the focus on certain characters overshadowed the resolution of the ending for other side characters.

Despite the epilogue chapters revealing the mysterious boy’s past, there were minimal illustrations to depict it, indicating that the manga creator did not prioritize this character’s development and only used him as a tool to wrap up Ochako and Deku’s story. As a result, many characters’ narratives were left rushed and underdeveloped.

Despite the manga’s final two-thirds focusing on redemption for the villains, both Tenko Shimura and Himiko Toga ultimately met their demise. This left fans questioning the purpose of the redemption arcs if the characters were only going to be killed off. Additionally, the ending also saw the death of Himiko Toga, further adding to the confusion among fans.

Despite the survival of Dabi, he was the only major antagonist who managed to make it through to the end. However, this outcome was expected as Toya Todoroki was in no state to physically or morally redeem himself.

Despite all the satisfying developments in the conclusion of the manga, there is one unexplored plot point that may enrage fans: the reveal of Deku’s father. According to manga creator Kohei Horikoshi, Deku’s father was supposed to be revealed in the future, but as of now, there has been no such development. This has left fans with little hope of ever seeing the reveal in the final chapter of the series.
