The seventh season of My Hero Academia has already hinted at the unfortunate destinies of the League of Villains members, which may have gone unnoticed due to its subtle nature.
The final chapter of Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga was released on August 4, 2024, bringing an end to the ten-year-long story. In addition to discovering the future paths of the Class 1-A students, readers were also given closure on the fates of the series’ main antagonists.
Upon learning the outcomes of the characters, it becomes evident that the My Hero Academia anime was foreshadowing their fates. In the second ending song of Season 7, ‘Rokutōsei’ by Zarame, there is a scene where all four main members of the League of Villains are seen floating.
From the four individuals, only Spinner is shown with his eyes open while Shigaraki, Dabi, and Toga appear to be asleep. The ending was initially released with Episode 10 on July 13, and at the time, its significance was unknown. However, with hindsight, it has become clear.
By the conclusion of the manga, only Spinner remains alive among the four main members. The epilogue confirms the deaths of Shigaraki and Toga, while Dabi is portrayed as critically injured and awaiting his impending death. With the beginning of Chapter 430 marking an eight-year time jump, it can be assumed that Dabi has also passed away by the end.
This particular aspect adds depth and significance to the final song. As pointed out by a Reddit user in their comment, the creators skillfully incorporated subtle details and foreshadowing instead of overtly explaining them.
“Another individual stated that Toya had also passed away, emphasizing that he had found inner peace and acceptance before his death, reflecting on his life and achievements.”
Despite their crimes, viewers are able to sympathize with the villains while still acknowledging their horrendous actions, as one person mentioned, “You can feel sorry for somebody while still acknowledging they did horrendous things.”
