My Hero Academia fourth movie reveals main villain’s character visual

The character design for the antagonist Dark Might in My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You’re Next was revealed on the official movie website on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. According to the movie’s trailer, Dark Might is a movie-original character and will be making his debut in the film.

The plot of My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You’re Next takes place following the events of My Hero Academia Season 3, specifically after All Might’s victorious battle against his arch-nemesis All For One and his subsequent loss of the One For All powers. When Dark Might hears his hero All Might utter the phrase, “You’re Next,”he quickly springs into action.

New Character Design Revealed for My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You’re Next

The character design for the antagonist of the fourth My Hero Academia movie, Dark Might, was revealed by the official X account on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Although the character had already been shown in teasers and trailers for the movie, this is the first time that the anime movie’s official sources have released a character design sheet for Dark Might.

The character can be described as follows:

“A man suddenly appears in a Japan ravaged by an all-out war between heroes and villains. He bears a striking resemblance to All Might, the former “Symbol of Peace” and No. 1 hero.”

When comparing the character design of All Might to that of Dark Might, there are striking similarities between the two. The only noticeable differences are in Dark Might’s eyes and hair. It is clear that the anime intentionally added a dark outline around Dark Might’s eyes to convey his evil nature.

Despite its seemingly perfect appearance, Dark Might’s hair appears to be artificial. Unlike All Might’s natural-looking hair, Dark Might’s hair has been deliberately styled to resemble that of the former No. 1 Hero. This can be observed in the symmetrical way his hair stands and the comb over used to tuck the hair behind.

The highly anticipated film, My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You’re Next, is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on Friday, August 2, 2024.

How Fans Reacted to the Character Visual

Surprisingly, fans were not anticipating the release of the fourth movie for the anime. With My Hero Academia Season 7 currently airing, fans were primarily focused on the budget for the season rather than a movie-original storyline that serves as a prequel to the ongoing events in the anime.

“Can we please stop with the movies. PLEASE just put all the budget into the anime,”one fan said.

“Scheduled movie in the middle of a season? Who thinks of these things lol,”another fan added.

There were concerns among other fans regarding the decision to release the anime and movie through BONES. With the seventh season of the anime scheduled to have 31 episodes, it was inevitable that the movie would be released during the season’s midpoint.

“Dark Might?… whats happening to this show, theyre really running out of ideas,”another added.

“YASSS! This is going to be so much! Let’s goooo!,”another fan said.

Additionally, some fans were unimpressed by the lack of originality displayed by the executives at BONES. They found it uninteresting and unoriginal to name a character Dark Might simply based on inspiration from All Might, which they felt reflected a lack of imagination.

Despite this, there were still fans who eagerly anticipated the release of the film and were hoping to see it in theaters.
