My Hero Academia: Is a One For All Quirk Awakening in Deku’s Future?

The release date for chapter 425 of My Hero Academia was June 10, 2024. This chapter featured the graduation ceremony of the third year students at U.A. High School and did not include Midoriya discussing One for All. This further supports the validity of his statements from the previous chapter.

One for All stands out from all other quirks in the series, as All Might’s explanation of it before passing it to Izuku was that it amalgamates the abilities of its users and bestows them upon the next generation.

During the ultimate battle of the final war, All for One acknowledged that Midoriya stood apart from All Might due to the constant support of his friends, unlike the Symbol of Peace. Now, with One for All depleted, Izuku may be able to regain his quirk through an awakening fueled by the powers of those who have always believed in his potential.

In chapter 424 of My Hero Academia, the aftermath of the war was revealed. Deku and All Might were both hospitalized, and Deku admitted that he only had a small amount of One for All left in his body. This suggested that he was at a greater risk of losing his quirk once again.

In chapter 425 of My Hero Academia, a timeskip occurred before the graduation ceremony for the third year students at U.A. High School. Despite Deku’s class moving on to the next year, the chapter chose to keep the conversation about Deku’s remaining embers of One for All a secret.

Therefore, is it possible for Deku to lose the quirk that he received from All Might at the beginning of the series? In addition to the One for All quirk, the main character also possesses a meta ability that grants him access to the quirks of the past users of One for All, such as Danger Sense, Fa Jin, and others.

This was a reference to All Might’s explanation of this quirk, which highlighted the remarkable aspect of One For All: its ability to accumulate strength and bestow it upon the next recipient.

This indicates that the initial user transferred what they collected to the next user, and eventually it reached Deku. As the main character, he demonstrated excellent control over each ability, impressing all of the vestiges.

Regrettably, he entrusted all the remaining remnants to TomurAFO in order to vanquish the antagonist and was left with only a small amount of One for All, similar to his mentor Yagi Toshinori (All Might).

One for All gains strength through each passing vestige, indicating that Deku possesses a more powerful version of the quirk. This suggests that there may be multiple layers to its functionality, including the concept of accumulating and transferring power.

Despite losing the power of the previous vestiges, TomurAFO was unable to defeat Deku. This was due to the special quality of Deku’s power, which was fueled by the unwavering support and will of his friends. Even All For One acknowledged during their final battle that Deku’s strength surpassed that of All Might, thanks to the unwavering backing of his friends whenever he needed it.

Therefore, Deku’s awakening of One for All could involve him gathering and merging the power of all its previous users in order to re-awaken the quirk. As Deku possesses the most powerful iteration of One for All, his awakening could potentially be equally formidable, aiding him in recovering the quirk he had lost, though not the accompanying meta ability, which had been passed on to TomurAFO by the vestiges.
