My Hero Academia manga could end like Attack on Titan

As the latest chapter of Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia series unfolds, the climax of the final saga draws near. The students of Class 1-A from U.A. High have joined the fight to aid Deku in his ultimate showdown against Tomura Shigaraki, who has been taken over by the mind of All For One.

As the story nears its conclusion, fans are taking to social media to share their various theories about how the series will end. One theory, which was recently posted on X, stands out as particularly original. It proposes that My Hero Academia’s finale could mirror the climactic ending seen in Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan.

Comparing the potential endings of My Hero Academia and Attack on Titan

Despite its conclusion last year, Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan remains one of the most highly acclaimed shonen animes to date. In the final season, audiences witnessed Eren Yeager’s selfless sacrifice to bring humanity together and eliminate discrimination from the world, even if only for a temporary period.

Furthermore, the death of Eren marked the ultimate conclusion of the Titan shifting abilities, releasing the characters from the powers that had long been a burden to them and the entire world.

Although it may be a daunting challenge, a recent fan theory suggests that Kohei Horikoshi could potentially conclude his magnum opus, X, with a similar climactic ending as seen in Hajime Isayama’s masterpiece, Attack on Titan. While matching the storytelling and impact of Attack on Titan may not be easy, this theory proposes that Horikoshi could potentially achieve a similar level of success with his own work.

A user by the name of @YasserMontasse5 on X platform recently put forward a theory stating that the true antagonist in My Hero Academia is not All For One, but rather the parasite responsible for the emergence of Quirks.

The theory was supported by chapter 420 of the My Hero Academia manga, which showed Deku’s clear confusion when facing the current All For One. This confusion was a result of All For One previously boasting about his complete fusion with Tomura Shigaraki during their time at U.A. High.

As a result, Deku was convinced that harming Tenko Shimura’s psyche would shatter them both, resulting in All For One’s defeat. Nevertheless, Deku was astounded that All For One remained standing in their presence, despite the events that had transpired.

The user clarified that Deku’s confusion in this scene is not about Shigaraki or All For One, but rather a parasite pretending to be All For One. The user further pointed out that the villain’s appearance, resembling a decaying body, was the first clue to its true identity, drawing a parallel to how parasites drain the life out of their hosts.

According to the user, the parasite known as Giardia could have originated from the time when All For One and Yoichi Shigaraki were born. This theory is supported by the fact that the parasite takes the form of a cyst during its initial stage. Additionally, there is evidence of All For One’s mother having a skin cyst on her arm before his birth.

In the second phase, the parasite divides into two and focuses on sustaining itself. According to the individual, this could explain why All For One continued to consume his mother’s life force even after she passed away. The individual also noted the sequence of events, as shortly after rats fed on All For One’s mother’s body by the river, Quirks began to manifest all around the world.

It is crucial to note that the Giardia parasite is transmitted through water, making it highly likely for humans to contract the virus by consuming river water contaminated by infected rats. As a result, the virus rapidly spread among humans and continued to do so until it had affected a vast majority of the global population.

The virus mentioned may have been responsible for the emergence of extraordinary powers, which became known as Quirks. This belief is further bolstered by Kai Chisaki, also known as Overhaul, who held the belief that Quirks were simply a disease.

In chapter 158 of My Hero Academia, it was uncovered that Overhaul’s beliefs stemmed from a theory proposing that a virus, previously unknown, had been transmitted globally by mice. Overhaul made the connection and deduced that the virus mentioned in the theory was responsible for the sudden appearance of human mutations known as Quirks.

In the event that this theory does prove to be accurate, it could result in a conclusion reminiscent of Attack on Titan, where the Quirks are ultimately eliminated from society once the parasite, masquerading as All For One and controlling Shigaraki’s body, is eradicated.

In the world of Attack on Titan, the existence of Titan powers was eliminated when Hallucigenia, the source of these powers, was eradicated. As a result, if the theory holds true, My Hero Academia may potentially follow a similar path, leading to the extinction of Quirks from the world.

However, it is important to remember that this theory is solely derived from the interpretation of specific events in the story and should not be seen as a prediction of any future events.
