My Hero Academia Season 7: Anime vs Manga Comparison

The production team of My Hero Academia delivered yet another visually stunning episode with the release of season 7 episode 15 on August 31, 2024. The return of Dabi allowed for the use of vibrant colors, but the episode remained faithful to the source material with the only notable change being in the fight choreography.

This caused a shift in the tide of the battlefield, as Kurogiri’s quirk evenly distributed the villain’s power, making it difficult for the heroes to counter his sneaky tactics.

The latest episode of My Hero Academia, season 7 episode 15, titled Butterfly Effect, covered the rest of chapter 372, chapters 373-74, and a portion of chapter 375. Picking up where the previous episode left off, Spinner forcefully enters the hospital despite Mike’s attempts to stop him.

Upon entering, he immediately located Kurogiri who was confined within a glass enclosure. However, to his dismay, none of his comrades were able to join him inside the hospital. Taking advantage of the situation, Mike swiftly knocked out the recorder device belonging to All for One and rendered Kurogiri unconscious.

As a result, the crowd outside calmed down and voiced their sadness over how they were simply following Spinner’s direction. They all ultimately agreed to march into the hospital.

Despite being at his breaking point, Spinner took hold of one of Shigaraki’s hands and launched an assault on Kurogiri, imploring him to assist Shigaraki. This triggered a transformation within Shigaraki, causing him to cover the entire hospital in his dark shadows.

The current episode remained true to its source material, with minimal deviation in terms of direction and choreography. Similar to the previous installment, this portion of the episode continued to center on Spinner and his deep affection for Shigaraki, which he conveyed through his determined march towards Kurogiri.

On Okuto Island, Uraraka and the other heroes were working to neutralize the villains. However, Toga tricked Tsuyu into falling into her trap, allowing her to consume Twice’s blood. With this new transformation, Toga disguised herself as Twice and was collected by Kurogiri. They were then transported to the location where Hawks was waiting.

Meanwhile, in Kamino Ward, Dabi had also unlocked his quirk. His flames were wreaking havoc on the environment and causing drastic changes in the weather across the globe. As Shoto looked on in confusion, Dabi revealed his longing to confront Endeavor and witness his pained expression. Kurogiri appeared on the scene and granted his wish.

The finale of My Hero Academia’s seventh season saw the arrival of Toga (Twice) and Dabi on the battlefield, where they joined Endeavor and Hawks in their fight against All for One. Toga wasted no time in utilizing Twice’s quirk to unleash the powerful attack known as the ‘Sad Man’s Death Parade.’

Despite being predominantly CGI, particularly in Toga’s Sad Man’s Death Parade, this section of My Hero Academia season 7 episode 15 was not poorly executed. While certain scenes may have differed, the overall episode stayed true to the original source material, with a focus on Dabi and his latest transformation. The production team put great effort into making his newly awakened quirk visually pleasing, evident in the episode.
