Opening Events: Tiamat Fails to Bring Down Shigaraki as He Touches Star and Stripe

In the second episode of season 7 of My Hero Academia, viewers are given a glimpse into the past of Cathleen Bate, also known as Star and Stripe. The story then transitions to the present, continuing where the first episode of season 7 left off – with Star successfully subduing Shigaraki, who is being controlled by All For One (AFO).

Upon arrival of the advanced Tiamat Hypersonic Intercontinental Cruise Missiles, also known as the State-of-the-Art, Star takes charge and coordinates an attack alongside her squadron of jets. Employing the use of New Order, she successfully intercepts all the missiles and redirects their path towards their intended target, Shigaraki. As Star manipulates Tiamat’s trajectory, her fellow pilots continue to pressure Shigaraki.

Despite the redirected missiles launched by Star, Shigaraki is able to survive the massive explosion with only superficial injuries. This is due to his exceptional regeneration abilities, which are already healing his wounds. Additionally, his sharp intellect allows him to anticipate the attack and cleverly evade direct impact by utilizing his Decay to create a tunnel within the earth. He also uses a Nomu as a decoy to further protect himself.

Despite one of the pilots volunteering to sacrifice himself in order to defeat Shigaraki, Star hesitates and allows him to touch her directly on the face. Shigaraki retaliates quickly, but Star’s hesitation ultimately results in her being touched by him.

In episode 2 of season 7 of My Hero Academia, we learn about AFO’s biggest concern regarding the collaboration between Star and Stripe/New Order and Deku/One For All. In order to prevent this, AFO caused chaos overseas and disrupted the safety commission, ultimately delaying the arrival of foreign heroes in Japan.

Despite intending to wait until his new body was perfected before challenging New Order, Star’s unexpected interference forced AFO to take a chance and confront her. As Star tries to use New Order to protect herself, AFO seizes and absorbs her ability.

Despite his efforts, AFO’s body deteriorates whenever he attempts to use it, as a result of a rule implemented by Star in the New Order to counter other quirks. As a result, AFO’s quirk factor is ultimately destroyed from within, foiling his plans.

As AFO’s quirks continue to harm each other under the influence of New Order, he becomes aware of the need to remove it in order to save himself. However, since quirks cannot be discarded, he devises a plan to transfer them to another individual.

Despite the pilots’ coordinated laser beams preventing Shigaraki from regenerating and New Order continuing to destroy him from within, he manages to escape before they can defeat him. This marks the end of the fight, but Cathleen Bate meets her demise while reflecting on her previous encounter with All Might.

Upon his escape, AFO endeavors to pass on the New Order to another individual. However, Cathleen’s cautionary words remind him that the New Order is at risk of being obliterated by the repercussions of other quirks. She predicts that one day, a hero will defeat him, causing a memory to resurface for a young Tomura, now inhabiting Shigaraki’s body, of Midoriya.

My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 2: The Heroes Receive Star’s Final Gift and Prepare for the Ultimate Battle

Despite the efforts of the heroes to find AFO after the intense battle with Shigaraki, their search proves to be unsuccessful. The tragic loss of Star prompts other nations to suspend their sending of heroes to aid Japan. As a result, the events of My Hero Academia season 7 episode 2 come to a close.

Despite All Might mourning the loss of Cathleen, the pilots share that they were able to record data from the fight. This information will prove valuable in future battles against AFO and reveals that the fight with Star has delayed AFO’s plans to merge with Shigaraki. This delay has extended the timeframe from one day to a week, serving as a final gift from Star to the heroes.

As this opportunity arises, the heroes ready themselves for the upcoming battle against AFO and Shigaraki. The young heroes of 1-A vow to continue their growth during this extension and unite in the fight to permanently defeat the villains.
