Explaining the Plan: The Heroes Face Shigaraki’s Overwhelming Growth in My Hero Academia Season 7 Episode 7
The seventh episode of My Hero Academia’s seventh season opens with a flashback of All Might strategizing their final battle plans with a group of trusted police force members. All Might reveals their divide-and-conquer approach, taking into account Shigaraki’s previous battle with Star and Stripe and the formidable strength of All For One and other members of the League.
The details are disclosed on the heroes who will confront the villains, the designated locations for each encounter, and the utilization of Troy’s system and Shindo and Monoma’s quirks to aid in these battles. After the team is briefed on their strategy to operate at eight different locations simultaneously, the focus turns to the Coffin in the Sky, where Bakugo and his comrades confront Shigaraki.
Shigaraki showcases a new ability, attacking Mirko. Bakugo admits they have no information on this newfound power. Shigaraki expresses his frustration with Aizawa as his growth ability runs rampant, impacting everything in its vicinity. Monoma verifies that Erasure is still functioning. Shigaraki clarifies that this is not a quirk, but rather a physical transformation caused by his body adapting to the evolving quirks.
Mirko proposes that this reflects the future of quirk society, in line with Kyudai Garaki’s theory of the quirk-singularity doomsday. She recommends teaming up with Bakugo in order to confront Shigaraki, who advises her to refrain from directly attacking him.
Deku asks to be teleported to their location, but Monoma explains that they would need to disable Decay for 10 seconds in order to do so. Realizing the danger of this, as all of Shigaraki’s extended hands can activate Decay, they decide it’s too risky to deactivate Erasure even for a brief moment. Aizawa advises Deku to find their location on his own while the rest of them focus on defending against Shigaraki.
My Hero Academia: Deku’s Confrontation with Shigaraki and Ochako and Tsuyu’s Battle Against Toga in Season 7, Episode 7
In the seventh episode of My Hero Academia season 7, the story shifts to Okuto Island where Deku, Ochako, and Tsuyu encounter Himiko Toga. At the same time, Gang Orca and his team are battling a Nomu and a group of escaped convicts. Deku quickly informs Ochako about the situation, but Toga attacks him. Fortunately, Deku is able to dodge her attack. Toga then invites Deku to stay, leaving him puzzled as to why his Danger Sense did not activate.
When he inquires about her desires, Toga openly expresses her feelings for him and requests for him to be her partner. Upon hearing this, Deku and Ochako come to the realization that Toga has been using her love for him as a means to cause harm to others. Toga clarifies that Deku reminds her of her first love and that she wishes to become him out of genuine affection. As the second wave of Nomu attacks, Toga takes advantage of the chaos to conceal herself.
Deku readies himself for Toga’s assault, acknowledging that he comprehends her longing to imitate those she admires but not her compulsion to harm them. Disheartened, Toga claims that he is just like everyone else and cannot grasp her intentions, causing her to engage in a fierce battle as she loses trust in the heroes.
As Toga launched an attack on Deku, Ochako stepped in and ended up getting stabbed. Tsuyu then joined the fight and dealt a blow to Toga. Ochako and Tsuyu assured Deku that they would take care of Toga, allowing him to focus on pursuing Shigaraki.
In the seventh episode of My Hero Academia season 7, Deku employs the powers of Seventh’s Float and Third’s Fa Jin to swiftly make his way towards the battlefield where Shigaraki awaits. However, his impatience and restlessness cause the Second to advise him to remain calm, cautioning him that his anxious state may be negatively affecting his decision making.
Kudo strongly cautions against utilizing his quirk, which should only be used as a last resort. He warns that as OFA increases in strength, the user’s quirks also become more powerful. It is important for Deku to avoid getting injured before confronting Shigaraki. As Deku leaves, Toga announces that she doesn’t require the assistance of heroes. She and the heroes then ready themselves for battle, with Ochako firmly determined to prevent her.
