My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next Reveals Theme Song in Official Trailer

On Monday, June 17, 2024, the My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next film’s official X account (formerly Twitter) released the main trailer, unveiling its theme song. The 90-second trailer also confirmed that “Homunculus,”performed by Vaundy, will be the film’s theme song. The trailer also features a preview of the theme song.

The trailer, lasting approximately 90 seconds, primarily features the Class 1-A students battling against the film’s main antagonist, Dark Might, who bears a striking resemblance to All Might. Both the students and Dark Might are heard speaking, and the trailer showcases numerous action sequences to generate anticipation among viewers for the film.

The fourth film project for the My Hero Academia franchise, titled You’re Next, is set in the same time period as the current anime season. Its release in Japanese theaters is scheduled for Friday, August 2, 2024. At this time, there is no information available regarding its international release.

The upcoming film, My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next, will introduce two new cast members, Mamoru Miyano and Meru Nukumi, who will portray the original characters of Giulio Gandini and Anna Scervino. Kenta Miyake will be reprising his role as Dark Might, having previously voiced All Might in all of the franchise’s anime projects.

Tensai Okamura, the director of the film, is working with BONES studios, alongside familiar members from previous anime projects of the franchise. These include scriptwriter Yosuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuki Hayashi. Additionally, Kohei Horikoshi, the original creator of the manga, serves as the general supervisor and original character designer for the film.

As previously stated, My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next will take place during the same time period as the current television anime, highlighting the breakdown of a once secure society. The story will revolve around the sudden appearance of a mysterious giant fortress and a man who bears a striking resemblance to All Might, the former Symbol of Peace, in this aftermath of a post-war world.

The franchise has released three films in July 2018, December 2019, and August 2021, titled Two Heroes, Heroes Rising, and World Heroes’ Mission, respectively. Additionally, the seventh season of its television anime began airing on April 6, with a special recap episode. The new episodes of the seventh season have since been airing every Saturday, starting on May 4, 2024.

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has been home to Horikoshi’s original manga since its debut in July 2014. The manga is still being regularly serialized to this day, although it is currently in its epilogue. It is anticipated that the series will conclude within the next few months.
