My Hero Academia: The Revelation of Deku’s New Quirk Name

My Hero Academia: The Revelation of Deku’s New Quirk Name

With the assistance of his friends, Deku has successfully put an end to the Final War in My Hero Academia. However, what lies ahead for our aspiring hero?

With the war coming to an end and All For One’s defeat, it appears that series creator Kohei Horikoshi has some loose ends to address. Fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of American heroes (fingers crossed for a Koichi cameo) and the inevitable shift in hero rankings. However, that is not the focus of my discussion.

Our main curiosity lies in knowing what Deku’s Quirk will eventually develop into. Although he currently does not possess one, it is hard to imagine that Horikoshi will leave Deku without any powers after his intense fight against Shigaraki and All For One. It would be similar to thinking that Naruto had truly lost Kurama forever or that Ichigo’s Shinigami abilities were permanently sealed away.

I believe that shonen anime typically adhere to a specific formula, with the protagonist never losing their powers being a crucial aspect. My co-worker has already presented a compelling case for why Deku should regain his abilities, so I will not delve into that topic. Instead, I will attempt to anticipate the name and abilities of Deku’s new Quirk, and why it will be the ideal match for our hero.

All For One and One For All

My prediction is that Deku will receive a new quirk known as ‘All For One and One For All,’ a combination of both All For One and One For All. I understand it may sound like a mouthful, but in this world, abilities are often named things like “Wooden Swords From His Hands”and heroes go by names such as “Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight,”neither of which are easy to say.

It is understandable that Horikoshi chose to give Deku this quirk. As a fan of Western media, he drew inspiration from Marvel and DC Comics for My Hero Academia, and his writing often includes references to popular films such as Star Wars. Additionally, there has been at least one instance where the series alludes to the classic tale, The Three Musketeers.

During the promotion of World Heroes’ Mission, the official My Hero Academia Twitter/X account shared a series of images. When put together, these images revealed Bakugo, Deku, and Todoroki alongside the caption, “He will meet the three musketeers.”As anyone with even a basic understanding of pop-culture would recognize, the Three Musketeers’ motto is “All For One and One For All.”

More than a reference

It may seem like a mere coincidence, but it cannot be ignored that Horikoshi possesses knowledge of the Three Musketeers. The chance to incorporate a new quirk inspired by these renowned Frenchmen is simply too enticing to pass up. Additionally, the manga has hinted at the potential selfless applications of All For One.

In Chapter 408 of My Hero Academia, Yoichi Shigaraki discusses the power of All For One and its ability to both grant and take away quirks. Despite the seemingly malevolent nature of taking away someone’s quirk, Shigaraki believes that this ability has the potential to be the most benevolent quirk in the world. This may seem contradictory, but it is important to consider that there are many civilians, particularly those with mutations, who struggle with quirks that are incompatible with their bodies.

Granting Deku the power to assist individuals who struggle with burdensome or humiliating abilities would elevate him beyond simply being a vigilante who resorts to violence to solve issues. He would have the potential to truly aid individuals like Spinner, who experience their quirks as a barrier to acceptance in society.

Ultimately, it would add a significant thematic element to Deku’s story if he were to possess the Quirks of both the greatest hero and greatest villain. This aligns with Deku’s ultimate objective of not simply defeating villains through physical force, but rather saving them, particularly Shigirkai. By obtaining the ‘All For One’ Quirk, Deku symbolically embraces the responsibility of the individual he tirelessly attempted to rescue, further emphasizing the core message of My Hero Academia to harness the power of unity for the greater good.

A fitting conclusion to the series would be for Deku to utilize a reformed version of All For One, representing a different form of heroism that goes beyond flashy abilities and prioritizes redemption. Alternatively, he could potentially become My Hero Academia’s equivalent of Batman. This would add a poetic touch to the ending.

Additionally, we have a compilation of the top superhero anime and a selection of the 10 most highly anticipated anime of 2024. But that’s not the end of it.
