Despite numerous questions from My Hero Academia fans over the years, one in particular has remained prevalent: the identity of Izuku “Deku”Midoriya’s father, Hisashi Midoriya. While it has been mentioned that Hisashi possesses the ability to breathe fire and is currently working overseas, he has yet to make an appearance in the series. This lack of explanation has left many fans wondering why Hisashi has never been introduced into the story.
Despite the final war arc of My Hero Academia, there is a recent theory that aligns with a fairly prevalent one. According to this theory, All For One, the main antagonist, is actually Deku’s father. While this may seem unlikely, there are certain elements that support this idea and could potentially explain the absence of Hisashi Midoriya in the manga.
Please be aware that this article includes spoilers for the series.
New theory about Deku’s father’s identity in the My Hero Academia manga
This theory proposes that All For One was aware of the possibility of his death in their ultimate confrontation with All Might, even before the series started. As a result, he made the choice to obtain a new body in order to better combat his adversary.
Garaki was conducting experiments in an attempt to create a second All For One Quirk, and there was a possibility that they had uncovered the potential benefits of having a child. It is possible that they had discovered a pattern in the series, where a child’s DNA could increase the chances of obtaining the desired Quirk.
It is possible that Deku’s mother was chosen due to her striking resemblance to Nana Shimura, the seventh user of One For All who was killed by All For One. This aligns with All For One’s twisted sense of humor. It is intriguing to note that Deku and All For One both share an intense interest in Quirks and their understanding, perhaps an influence from the villain on the protagonist.
This theory aligns with the fact that Garaki, the doctor who informed Deku of his Quirkless status as a child, could have been aware of the nature of All For One and its inability to be accidentally activated. This could also provide an explanation for Deku’s ability to fully harness the power of One For All, given that he possesses the genetic material of the original Quirk holder.
The flaws with this theory
Despite its logical nature, the biggest problem with this theory is its introduction at such a late stage in the My Hero Academia story. At present, All For One has already perished in the final war arc and the series has now reached its epilogue, making it unlikely for such a revelation to be included and still make sense.
If anything, this revelation should have occurred at some point during the final war arc and included interactions with All For One. However, adding a plot twist at the end would not contribute much to the epilogue and would only serve as shock value, which would be illogical since the main threat of the series has already been resolved.
Final Thoughts
Despite the logical explanation and potential to enhance the depth of the My Hero Academia series, the All For One theory is improbable to be factual. As previously stated, introducing this twist at this stage in the story would not have much impact.
