My Hero Academia: Will Deku get One For All back?

The plot of My Hero Academia took an unexpected twist as Deku lost One For All, leaving him Quirkless once more. With All For One defeated and Shigaraki now free, the question remains: will Deku regain his Quirk?

Starting his My Hero Academia journey as a Quirkless boy with the dream of becoming a Pro Hero, Deku’s aspirations are finally within reach when his idol All Might passes on the all-powerful One For All to him, granting him the chance to achieve his ultimate goal.

During the final stages of the Final War, Deku makes the decision to transfer One For All to Shigaraki by force, as the villain has successfully stolen the fourth One For All user from him. By forcibly transferring the remaining vestiges of the past users, Deku is left without a Quirk, effectively passing on the powerful ability to Shigaraki as the new wielder.

Despite Shigaraki’s body being taken over by All For One, there is still a possibility for Deku to regain his One For All since both All For One and Shigaraki were seemingly killed. However, whether or not this will truly happen is a topic that requires further discussion.

Although it is not certain, Deku may regain One For All by the conclusion of My Hero Academia.

In Chapter 423 of My Hero Academia, Deku utilizes the remaining power of One For All that still remains within him after passing the Quirk to Shigaraki. By doing so, he successfully delivers a blow to All For One that triggers a response from the spirits of the previous One For All users residing within him.

When All For One confronts Yoichi, the last remaining user of One For All and his own brother, it is revealed that Deku had transferred the Quirk in a manner that allowed the fragments of the past users to continue on, with the goal of completing the Quirk.

Yoichi clarifies that the time has come for both him and the other users to pass on, and their only chance for salvation is to defeat All For One. This implies that it will be their final encounter with their past selves within the Quirk. Once they have fulfilled their duty of putting an end to All For One’s terror, they will no longer exist within One For All.

Nevertheless, it is uncertain if One For All will also disintegrate in the process. While it is possible for the Quirk to retain its immense strength, it may no longer hold the remnants of its past wielders. As a result, Deku will never have the opportunity to interact with them again.

In the event that this does occur, Deku may potentially no longer have access to the Quirks of the past users, reverting him back to only possessing One For All. Despite this, it is not a dire situation for Deku as One For All remains the most powerful Quirk in the world, even without the supplementary abilities of its predecessors.

After One For All was destroyed along with All For One, the potential storyline of the story may shift. Yoichi’s initial intention for manifesting this Quirk was to defeat his brother. With that goal now achieved, it is possible that One For All has fulfilled its purpose.

However, this would not align with the true purpose of One For All, as it not only holds the Quirks of past users, but also their determination. Every wielder of One For All has shared the common goal of protecting others and improving society, meaning its true purpose has yet to be fulfilled.

This indicates that Deku could potentially regain his Quirk by the conclusion of the My Hero Academia manga.

The fate of One For All is left uncertain in My Hero Academia Chapter 423. However, based on the events of the chapter and Yoichi’s explanation, it can be inferred that the previous wielders of One For All find redemption by defeating All For One, signifying their eventual disappearance.

During the chapter, Deku’s ember of One For All awakens the resonance of the previous users and also revives Shigaraki, who was about to fade away, thanks to the intervention of his grandmother, Nana Shimura. All eight previous users and Shigaraki unite to launch a joint attack on All For One from within, while Deku uses the last of his strength to strike him from the outside.

As a result of the joint attack, All For One’s defeat was finally achieved, causing him to disintegrate and freeing Shigaraki from his grasp. The fate of One For All after this event is unknown and will be revealed in the upcoming Chapter 424.
