My Hero Academia You’re Next film reveals main villain via 2nd trailer

On April 6, 2024, the official YouTube channel of Toho Animation released the second teaser trailer for My Hero Academia You’re Next movie. To everyone’s astonishment, the trailer revealed that the antagonist of the film is not ‘All Might’ but an imposter who is mimicking the former Symbol of Peace, portrayed by the same voice actor. The movie is scheduled to debut on August 2, 2024.

The initial installment of the series’ film adaptations was My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, which debuted on August 3, 2018. This was followed by My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, which premiered on December 20, 2019. The most recent addition to the movie franchise, My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission, was released on August 6, 2021.

Meet the Villain of My Hero Academia’s Upcoming Film

The preview trailer began with the voice of Miyake Kenta, who is known for voicing the character All Might. However, it was soon revealed that the voice actually belonged to Dark Might, the villain in the upcoming My Hero Academia You’re Next film. As the trailer continued, viewers saw all of the heroes in a state of tension as their surroundings were destroyed by an unknown force.

In the trailer for the My Hero Academia You’re Next film, Dark Might’s abilities were also prominently displayed, bearing a resemblance to All Might’s One for All powers. The closing dialogue from the villain, “Atarashi socho no nasa, Dark Might,”loosely translates to “the passion of a new leader, Dark Might.”

It has been confirmed that Dark Might, the antagonist in the My Hero Academia You’re Next film, will be voiced by Kenta Miyake, the same voice actor for All Might. This suggests that All Might may not have a role in the film. However, all of the other original voice actors from the series will be reprising their roles in the film.

In this upcoming My Hero Academia movie, Okamura Tensei will take over as director from Kenji Nagasaki, who directed the previous films. Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of My Hero Academia, will serve as the supervisor and handle the character designs for the film.

Among the staff members returning for the project are Yuki Hayashi, who will once again serve as the music composer, Kuroda Yousuke, who will be responsible for the script, and Umakoshi Yoshiko, who will continue as the character designer, working alongside the author.

At the time of writing, there is no official synopsis for the film, however, the author of the series has confirmed that the film will occur after the events of season 6, with the protagonists facing off against the Paranormal Liberation Front under the leadership of Tomura Shigaraki.

Fans who have seen the trailer can anticipate that the movie will revolve around Dark Might’s attempts to tarnish the reputation of the Symbol of Peace, as depicted in the second trailer where the heroes are shown trying to defeat him.
