My Hero Academia: You’re Next movie gets a special one-shot

The upcoming film My Hero Academia: You’re Next will be accompanied by a one-shot from Yoco Akiyama, the assistant of manga creator Kohei Horikoshi. The one-shot, to be released on Monday, July 29, 2024, will coincide with the release of manga chapter 429 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump.

The highly anticipated movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, is scheduled to hit theaters in Japan on Friday, August 2, 2024. As avid fans are aware, the film’s plot will continue from where the third season of the anime left off. To provide context for this upcoming release, the manga series will be publishing a special one-shot.

My Hero Academia: You’re Next – One-Shot Release Before Film Premiere

On Thursday, July 18, 2024, a leak from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed that the upcoming My Hero Academia movie, You’re Next, will have a special one-shot manga featured in the magazine’s next issue #35, as revealed in issue #34.

The one-shot manga, which is a special release, will come out on Monday, July 29, 2024, along with the main series’s chapter 429. This date falls five days prior to the film’s debut in Japanese theaters.

The assistant of Kohei Horikoshi, Yoco Akiyama, will be responsible for creating the manga titled “CONNECT TO THE DAY.”The manga is expected to consist of 16 pages.

Furthermore, the upcoming issue #35 of Weekly Shonen Jump will feature My Hero Academia manga on the cover and lead color page.

Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the manga, also made efforts to promote the film in his weekly author’s comments.

Kohei Horikoshi stated the following:

“The new movie comes out on August 2nd! Please go watch it!”

The highly anticipated movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, is scheduled to premiere in Japan on Friday, August 2, 2024. International audiences can also catch the film on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Despite initial confusion among My Hero Academia fans after leaked news suggested that the series’s final chapter would be featured on the cover, it was revealed by others that this was not the case in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

“I thought the last chapter would get the cover,”one fan said.

“oct 11 for us english people. wish more anime movies did global releases man,”another said.

Despite the excitement surrounding the release of My Hero Academia: You’re Next movie on August 2 in Japan, one fan shared their concerns about the delayed international release date of October 11.

According to them, the two-month wait was simply too lengthy. Therefore, they desired for more anime films to have global releases.

“Confirm what happens to your characters and I just might,”other fan said.

“acting like he ain’t do nuthin,”another fan said

“Of course not, I don’t forgive you, Horikoshi. Let Toga be happy again,”another added.

At the same time, a majority of fans responded to Kohei Horikoshi’s statement. The supposed spoilers for chapter 428 of My Hero Academia suggested that Himiko Toga may meet her end. This plot twist was met with disapproval from fans, leading to their frustration towards the author and their decision to boycott the upcoming film.
