The current season of My Hero Academia, season 7, began airing in May 2024. The first three episodes have already been released, showcasing the epic battle between the Pro hero Star and Stripe and the ultimate villain TomurAFO. Based on the episodes that have aired, it seems like the pacing and animation for this season have been on par with previous seasons.
Despite being accused by fans of prioritizing side stories (the movies) over the main seasons, Studio Bones faced criticism for their handling of seasons 5 and 6. Many fans felt that these seasons were lacking in various aspects, leading them to believe they were not authentic.
Despite previous mistakes, it appears that the animation studio has taken note and improved. The current season of My Hero Academia showcases well-done direction and animation, suggesting that the studio is not focused on the release of Movie 4 in August 2024.

Exploring How Bones Has Learned Through Previous Seasons of My Hero Academia About Their Preferences
The broadcast of My Hero Academia season 5 began on March 27, 2021 and concluded on September 25, 2021. The season covered the Joint Training arc, Endeavor’s agency arc, the Meta Liberation Army arc (also known as My Villain Academia), and the beginning of the Paranormal Liberation War Arc.
Despite high anticipation for this season, which promised to delve into Shigaraki’s transformation into the main antagonist, fans were disappointed with certain aspects of the sequel. The slow pace of the first part, which covered the Joint Training arc, was a common complaint.
The arc itself was not the issue; rather, the true issue was the inclusion of an extra flashback in the series to extend the sequel and reach the desired number of episodes.
Additionally, the manga and its sequel differed in the placement of arcs, with ‘My Villain Academia’ being positioned after the Endeavor Agency arc to maintain chronological order. However, this decision had unintended consequences as it resulted in the removal of all the tension built up in the arc.
Ultimately, the primary reason for the downfall of season 5 was attributed to its subpar animation that failed to meet expectations. The animation studio responsible for My Hero Academia, Studio Bones, received criticism for prioritizing the production of the movie (movie 3: Heroes Rising) over the sequel.
Despite the fact that season 5 was still being released, the Heroes Rising movie was aired, causing fans to believe that Bones had compromised one of the series’ most beloved story arcs by shifting their focus elsewhere.
Similarly, season 7, which began airing on May 4, 2024, and is set to have a movie release during its run, may face the same issue. However, there is no need for concern as the first three episodes of season 7 have already been released and have met expectations in every aspect.
Whether it’s the thrilling clash between Star and Stripe and TomurAFO or the shocking revelation of the U.A. Traitor, Bones has consistently delivered and delighted fans with its dynamic storytelling and impressive animation.
This suggests that the animation studio is still focused on Movie 4: You’re Next, scheduled to premiere on August 2, 2024, and is being attentive where necessary. While it is too early to make assumptions based on only three episodes, fans are hoping that Bones will stay true to the source material in season 7, as it will begin adapting the final war arc of the series.
