My Wife Has No Emotion Season 1 Finale Explained: Key Differences from the Manga

With the recent release of the My Wife Has No Emotion anime, the series has now wrapped up with a total of 12 episodes. Tezuka Productions has done a commendable job of adapting the manga series into an anime, ensuring that no significant plot points were left out of the anime adaptation.

This adaptation, however, covers only about 25 chapters of the manga. Typically, a single season of anime comprising around 12 episodes will adapt approximately 30-35 manga chapters, but that was not the case for My Wife Has No Emotion.

Interestingly, unlike the previous 11 episodes, the finale diverged from the manga’s storyline. This trend is quite common in seasonal anime as production studios often try to provide a fitting conclusion to the series. However, the future developments depicted in the manga are notably unconventional. Below, we compare the anime finale to the manga’s ending.

Differences Between the Ending of My Wife Has No Emotion Anime and the Manga

In the anime, after Takuma created a maze for Mamoru to play in, he went to chat with Mina in the kitchen. Mina expressed her joy about the new kitchen and her eagerness to prepare even tastier meals for her husband.

In the anime, their conversation is interrupted after Mina mentions the four burners on the stove. In contrast, the manga has Takuma realize that the stove was electric rather than gas. Mina expressed her satisfaction with the electric stove, highlighting its advantages over gas stoves, metaphorically suggesting that electrical appliances, like herself, are superior to alternatives.

Following the stove conversation in the anime, the scene shifts to Mina contemplating a nickname for Takuma. However, in the manga, the scene shifts to something unexpected.

Here, Takuma feels chilly in the kitchen, and suddenly, Mina starts waving her hands around him. Initially, it appears there’s an insect nearby, but it’s subsequently revealed that the house is haunted by a ghost.

Mina Cuddling with Mamoru in the Anime

Throughout the anime, it’s evident that Mina has developed feelings for Mamoru but still competes for Takuma’s affection. As Mamoru would snuggle between Takuma and Mina at night, she would typically push him aside to cuddle with Takuma.

However, in the anime’s finale, Mina does not move Mamoru away when he snuggles between them; instead, she embraces him. This signifies that she has formed a bond with her “son,”a moment not depicted in the manga.

Postcard Invites Sent to Family and Friends in the Anime

In a customary conclusion to an anime, the finale of My Wife Has No Emotion depicted Takuma and Mina sending postcard invites to their family and friends, inviting them to visit their new home. This scene is absent in the manga, marking a notable difference.

Tezuka Productions effectively showcased all the important supporting characters in the anime’s conclusion, including Akari, Daisuke, Emi, Koushirou, Arisa, Senju, Rihito, and Super Mina.
