Na In-woo Breaks Silence on Military Exemption Controversy at Event
The recent event featured director Kim Hyung-min alongside prominent cast members Lee Se-young, Na In-woo, Choi Min-soo, Kim Tae-hyung, and Choi Hee-jin. This occasion marked a significant moment for Na In-woo, as it was his first public appearance amidst ongoing discussions regarding his military status.
Clarifying the Military Service Exemption
Recently, reports disclosed that Na In-woo had been granted exemption from military service. Initially categorized as “Grade 4” during his physical examination, he was eligible for service as a public service worker. However, after three years of waiting for enlistment and assignment notifications from the Military Manpower Administration, the exemption was officially recognized.
In light of these developments, his agency, Hanada Company, commented last month, acknowledging that Na In-woo was indeed designated as “Grade 4” but refrained from providing further specifics about this classification. They noted, “As this was a decision made by the Military Manpower Administration, there is nothing further to add.”
Press Conference Insights
During the press conference, Na In-woo addressed the controversy directly, stating, “The news about my military exemption surfaced while we were filming ‘Motel California’. I was taken aback and only became aware of it after filming concluded late at night. Given the sensitivity of the matter, I felt compelled to choose silence.”
He elaborated on his approach, saying, “I think many appreciate my vibrant and positive image. I didn’t want to portray myself as struggling or in distress, so I tried to maintain an upbeat demeanor.” Na In-woo also mentioned, “While I’m unable to share specifics about my medical condition, I hope to open up now so that people can accept me for who I am.”
