Nami’s Crucial Role in One Piece’s Final War: Key to the Outcome

Nami’s Crucial Role in One Piece’s Final War: Key to the Outcome

The One Piece saga has ignited extensive dialogues concerning the hierarchy within the Straw Hat crew, which is pivotal to the storyline. While the trio of Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji has emerged as some of the most formidable pirates navigating the oceans, the same cannot be said for the other members of their crew.

Nami stands out as a character who now possesses the potential to significantly enhance her destructive prowess, primarily thanks to Zeus, her current companion. With the recent developments confirming Vegapunk’s ability to generate cloud islands and the looming threat of a global flood, it is likely that Nami’s future contributions, alongside Zeus, will be crucial in the battle against Imu and the Celestial Dragons.

The Egghead Island storyline, focusing on Vegapunk and his domain, is considered one of the most lore-rich arcs within the series, providing both the origin and validation of many fan theories related to Devil Fruits and the catastrophic flood threatening the One Piece universe.

Although Vegapunk was taken down by the World Government, his satellite creations regained consciousness. They seized control of the Cloud Plant, which was the key to generating cloud islands, anticipating that these clouds would be humanity’s salvation once the anticipated flood occurs.

Weatheria, the Sky Island that became Nami’s training locale after the events at Sabaody Archipelago—when Bartholomew Kuma teleported the entire Straw Hat crew—is the sole tangible civilization among the clouds. Weatheria is a man-made Sky Island, home to a small group of scientists dedicated to weather-related research.

The flood, foreshadowed within the narrative, is characterized as an inevitable event; however, Vegapunk expressed his confidence in humanity’s innovative capabilities and technological advancement, which will ensure their survival.

Shortly after acquiring the Cloud Plant, Vegapunk reached out to Haredas, a resident of Weatheria and Nami’s mentor. It’s plausible that Vegapunk’s next move may involve collaborating with Haredas to construct a fleet of Cloud Islands aimed at preserving humanity.

Under the governance of Imu, the World Government possesses Uranus, which was responsible for the annihilation of Lulusia. Therefore, any initiative by Haredas and Vegapunk to establish Cloud Islands to safeguard humanity will ultimately face opposition from Imu utilizing Uranus.

Nami’s connections to Weatheria, combined with Zeus’s current weakened state residing within her Clima-Tact and Weatheria’s lack of defensive measures, suggest that Nami may orchestrate Zeus’s integration with the new Sky Islands, forming a sanctuary for humanity and utilizing Zeus’s lightning to counteract Uranus effectively.

Despite their checkered past, marked by Zeus’s earlier betrayal in favor of Big Mom, the impending flood could lead to a redemptive arc for Zeus and contribute to Nami’s growth as they unite to safeguard humanity by merging with the larger cloud islands. This amalgamation would also benefit the Straw Hat crew, potentially assisting them in their efforts to conquer Marie Geoise from above.

Final Thoughts

The manga is currently on a two-week hiatus following the release of chapter 1130, with One Piece chapter 1131 set to debut on November 10, 2024.

As the chaotic weather surrounding Elbaf has been established, and with minimal advancements in strength among the Straw Hat crew—apart from Luffy, Zoro, and Jinbei—it remains conceivable that characters like Usopp and Nami may embark on a training journey in Elbaf to enhance their capabilities.
