NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode has introduced significant changes to how you can request a trade between teams. This year, players will need to put in some effort before making that switch.
With each new release of NBA 2K, players eagerly jump into MyCareer to pursue their basketball dreams.
While NBA 2K24 focused on dominating the city and earning respect, the new storyline, Heart of a Dynasty, allows you to start your journey in High School and College before taking an NBA franchise into a new era of success. However, the trade request process has changed this year.
When Can You Request a Trade?
In NBA 2K25, you won’t be able to be traded from your selected team early on due to the Heart of A Dynasty narrative. Specifically, you must win at least two championships before the trade option becomes accessible.
This alteration has generated some frustration among players, as previous versions of MyCareer permitted team-switching after just one season. Unfortunately, this year, the wait is longer.
Free Agency
However, hope isn’t entirely lost if you’re struggling to clinch the championship. Players have discovered that you can still move through Free Agency before winning those titles.
This path, however, requires more time, as you’ll need to fulfill your contract obligations before you’re allowed to switch teams.
You can still join Steph and the Warriors as a Free Agent.
Influencing Trades
While the Influencing Trades option doesn’t allow you to request a trade for yourself, you can utilize it to enhance your current team. To unlock and use this feature, follow these steps:
- Complete the NBA Debut objective.
- Finish the Franchise quest titled ‘Become a Starter‘ which requires playing at least 4 games.
- Complete the ‘Earn Your Keep‘ Franchise quest, which necessitates playing a minimum of 3 games.
- Lastly, accept and complete the ‘Trouble in Paradise‘ quest.
- Once you’ve met all these criteria, go to the MyCareer menu and navigate to the Career Features tab.
- Select the ‘Suggest Trade Targets‘ button, and choose the player you wish to trade for.
After a few games, you’ll find out if the trade was successful.
