NBA 2K25 Players Worry That Shooting Buffs Could Ruin the Game Experience

NBA 2K25 players are expressing their concerns about potential buffs to the shooting mechanics, fearing that it could “kill”the game.

In recent years, the shooting mechanics in NBA 2K have changed significantly, primarily focusing on badges that enhance shot performance under fatigue. Jumpshot animations remain crucial to gameplay as well.

The shooting meter has also undergone modifications in the last two NBA 2K editions. With NBA 2K25, a new risk-reward setting has been introduced, prompting players to experiment with it in search of the optimal configuration. According to insights from 2KLabs, disabling the shot meter and utilizing the High Risk-Reward setting can lead to impressive shooting results.

NBA 2K developer Mike Wang acknowledged this observation, indicating that there are animation fluctuations intended to enhance the skill gap for players.

Players can modify multiple shot meter settings in NBA 2K25.

Since this update, community members have voiced their worries about potential shooting buffs. Many players are against such adjustments.

One player stated, “I hope there’s no change. I already shoot 55%. If they change it, I’ll never miss, and I don’t want that. Buffing shooting will surely lead to the game’s decline within a month, just like previous installments.”

Another player added, “I absolutely hated when they buffed shooting last year. They need to leave it as it is.”

One comment highlighted the importance of teamwork, stating, “The best way to win is through easy open shots. Two’s are viable. The game is good; the player base needs to adapt. Enhancing the three-point shooting will turn this game into a typical 2K, where players rely on cheesy dribble animations to drain threes.”

Despite the outcry, some believe that changes are inevitable. “At the end of the day, 2K is a business. I see them buffing shooting in the next patch,” one user stated.

No official confirmation regarding any upcoming changes has been made, but 2K has been known to implement adjustments quickly in the past. We will have to wait to see if a similar approach is taken this time.
