On July 18th, choreographer Choi Hyo-je posted on his Instagram story, starting with the statement, “I’m not expecting you to do a headspin to the point of breaking your neck, but simply dance with both feet on the ground comfortably. Although, I understand if that’s not feasible.”
He insisted, “However, it would be beneficial if you made an attempt. I have exhausted all the profanity I know, but I have deleted them. Please make an effort to practice.”
He reiterated, “I still have to keep them safe.”
Choi Hyo-je has been responsible for choreographing numerous idol groups, such as SHINee, NCT, THE BOYZ, and tripleS.
Despite not explicitly mentioning the person he was referring to, there was much speculation that it was tripleS, the group he most recently collaborated with.
Netizens responded with statements such as, “Sharing that publicly and then claiming to want to keep them safe,””If you have something to disclose, do it clearly instead of being ambiguous,”and “Choreographers collaborate with numerous idols, so it’s premature to make assumptions; it could be students or someone from a private session.”
Choi Hyo-je issued an apology on July 19th as speculation continued, expressing regret for causing concern and discomfort with their careless actions. They promised to be more cautious in the future.
Choi Hyo-je served as the performance director for the choreography of “Girls Never Die,”the title track of tripleS’ debut full-length album “ASSEMBLE24,”which featured a 24-member group.
Upon the album’s launch, he conveyed his backing for the tripleS members by stating, “We finally have the complete 24-member group… I am grateful to all the choreographers who collaborated with us, as well as the 24 members and the entire MODHAUS team involved in producing this album. Let’s successfully complete this full-length album promotion without any injuries and stay safe~!!!”
