A previously shared audio recording of NCT Dream’s Jaemin has resurfaced on social media, in which he is reported to have made a potentially inappropriate comment towards his fellow artist, EXO’s Baekhyun.
On August 16, a clip of Jaemin gained popularity on Facebook as it once again caught the attention of netizens. The video showcased his conversation with fellow NCT member Jisung, where the youngest member expressed his admiration for EXO Baekhyun’s recently released album.
During their 3rd debut anniversary, NCT was commemorating their achievements. Jisung also mentioned Baekhyun’s first solo album, “City Lights,”which was released in July 2019, as a senior artist.
The youngest member excitedly praised Baekhyun’s release and expressed his love for the entire album. As they listened, Jaemin joined in and admitted that he didn’t enjoy it as much. He mentioned that he still needed to listen to the entire album.
He stated in the snippet:
“I have listened to it, but it didn’t sound that great.”
Upon being questioned about their preferred song from the album, the members were met with Jaemin’s response:
“I am yet to listen to the whole thing.”

Despite the fact that this information was shared among EXO-Ls (EXO fans), the NCT member received criticism for being perceived as “disrespectful”towards his senior. He was reprimanded for uttering this during the livestream, which was watched by thousands of viewers.
Before departing from SM Entertainment to create his own label, INB100, Baekhyun and Jaemin shared a senior-junior dynamic. As a result, Eris views it as inappropriate to make such comments about the EXO member who actively supports and mentors junior idols.
At the same time, NCTzens (fans of Jaemin) stood up for the member, arguing that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that his comment should not be blown out of proportion as it does not represent the views of other listeners on the album.
According to Korean fans, Jaemin’s tone was not as harsh as portrayed in the translation, and they clarified that the snippet was edited to create the impression that he disliked Baekhyun’s album.
Upon further listening to the audio clip, Jaemin made it clear that he only includes his favorite songs by Baekhyun in his playlist. He also revealed that he has been listening to the senior idol’s music more frequently lately.
Despite not having listened to the entire album, he had been consistently playing his favorite Baekhyun songs. NCTzens clarified that Jaemin’s statement was not intended as criticism towards the EXO member.
- “Jaemin didn’t criticize his senior. Jaemin’s opinion is that because he hasn’t heard all of (the songs) yet, he didn’t like it so much (yet) as he was asked before.”
