NCT’s Yuta is facing intense scrutiny after making comments about fellow member Haechan during a recent content review.
The remarks, which have been criticized as “fat-shaming,”have incited a strong response from both fans and netizens.
The dispute arose after a video surfaced of NCT members revisiting a performance of their popular song, “Fire Truck.”
During the event, Yuta shared his experience from the stage rehearsals, specifically mentioning a moment where the other members had lifted Haechan. Yuta also mentioned that he had warned Haechan against eating beforehand.
“There was a part where Haechan was lifted up, so I always told him not to eat. We had practiced to the point where I could tell Haechan’s change in weight if he ate food. There, if he ate, I’d get really annoyed.”

The response from the digital community has been immediate and disapproving, with numerous individuals accusing Yuta of engaging in body-shaming towards Haechan.
Netizens have expressed their anger, noting that Haechan, who was a minor at the time, appeared to be visibly uncomfortable with the comments.
“I do not want to speak for Haechan, but I feel the need to address this issue. As a minor, what happened is not acceptable. South Korea may have strict standards, but as a teammate and someone Haechan values, it is not appropriate to openly boast about body-shaming him,”a concerned fan expressed on Twitter.
Another fan expressed their frustration, stating, “I really wish NCT would stop discussing weight,”echoing the sentiments of many others within the fandom who are growing more worried about the prevalence of body image problems in the entertainment world.
