The latest “sexual chat room”scandal in South Korea has caused uproar as groups have been sharing deepfake pornographic videos, leading to almost 2,000 victims. The incident has gained global attention, sparking condemnation on various platforms, not just in South Korea. These despicable actions have been met with strong criticism from the public.
Despite this, NCT’s Taeil has caused a stir in the media after being expelled from the group by SM Entertainment for his involvement in a sexual scandal.
The male idol in question has been accused of secretly recording an adult woman for a period of six years. While there has been no conclusive evidence linking Taeil’s scandal to the sexual chat room controversy, numerous sources on social media have started to draw connections between the two incidents. As a result of the eldest NCT member’s actions, a concerning trend has arisen on various platforms.
A false list has been circulating with baseless allegations, falsely implicating numerous male idols in a sexual chat room scandal. This has caused great concern and attention. One particular account, posing as The Korea Times, shared the fabricated list and accused a number of high-profile celebrities, including top idols and male actors, of engaging in sexual activities within group chats. The post gained significant traction on TikTok, with over a million views.
Despite being male artists, many have faced an unfair “witch hunt”from a group of uninformed internet users who were misled by false information. This has resulted in numerous false rumors being spread in order to create “fake interactions,”causing innocent celebrities to be unjustly targeted with suspicion.
As soon as news broke, supporters of these artists urged the management companies to intervene and stop the proliferation of false rumors. Taeil’s transgression has unfairly implicated many other male idols, like a proverbial “bad apple”spoiling the entire batch.
