Negai no Astro: Chapter 5 Recap

The fifth chapter of Negai no Astro, titled “A Throwdown by The Book,”commences with Hibaru Yotsuguri engaging in a battle against his half-sibling, Kou. The Yotsurugi family’s tradition dictates that any disagreements between siblings must be resolved through a one-on-one duel.

Kou offers Hibaru a deal: if he emerges victorious, he can claim Kuran as his prize. But if the tables turn and Hibaru wins, Kou will gain the support of Terasu. Hibaru agrees to the terms and the battle commences. However, Kou’s powerful Astro, Ashura, proves to be a formidable opponent for Hibaru.

While they were outside the ring, Kuran confides in Terasu that his extra arms were no match for Kou. In the midst of their fight, Kou strikes at Hibaru and remarks that he is reminiscent of his biological older brother, Botan.

According to Kuran, prior to their affiliation with the Yotsurugi family, he and Kou were caught up in a fierce turf war in Ikebukuro. It was during this tumultuous period that Botan sacrificed his life to protect a small child. In his final moments, he entrusted his brother to his closest friend, Kuran, asking him to watch over him.

Ever since, the boy had made a vow to protect Kou. The chapter then transitions to the duel, where Kou’s remarkable Astro abilities trap Hibaru. Nevertheless, the boy’s determination aids him in retaliating.

After headbutting Kou, Hibaru reminds him that it is ultimately his choice whether or not to put his life on the line for someone. He also scolds Kou for using his abilities for selfish purposes and not standing by Kuran, who had always protected him.

After that, Hibaru prepares for a full-powered punch but halts just before striking. He holds back because he holds respect for Kuran and does not want to defeat him completely. The chapter concludes with Hibaru instructing Kou to concede defeat.
