On Friday, September 6, 2024, the first promotional video for the highly anticipated Negative Positive Angler anime series was unveiled, confirming its release date of Thursday, October 3, 2024. Alongside the video, a new key visual was shared, as well as details about the opening and ending theme songs, artists involved, and additional cast members for the series.
Given the proximity of the anime’s release and the wealth of information revealed, this may be the final significant announcement regarding the Negative Positive Angler anime. While another promotional video could be released before the premiere, it is unlikely to provide any major revelations about the production.
Negative Positive Angler anime premieres at 10PM JST on Thursday, October 3 in Japan
The Negative Positive Angler anime will debut on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 10 PM Japanese Standard Time (JST) on ATX. Following its premiere, the anime will subsequently air on Tokyo MX and KBS Kyoto at 10:30 PM JST, then on Sun TV at 12:30 AM on Friday, October 4, and finally on BS Nippon TV at 1 AM on October 4. Viewers will also be able to stream the series on Abema every Thursday at 10:30 PM JST after it concludes on ATX.
New cast additions were announced, including Haruka Tomatsu as Ice, a Thai model, cosplayer, and part-time worker passionate about anime and manga. Yuya Hirose will portray Alua, Ice’s younger brother who balances part-time work at Every Mart while studying to become a chef.
They join the previously announced cast comprising Mitsuki Iwanaka as Tsunehiro Sasaki, Fairouz Ai as Hana Ayukawa, Kaito Ishikawa as Takaaki Tsutsujimori, Rio Tsuchiya as Kozue Nishimori, Hiroshi Tsuchida as Machida, and Masashi Sugawara as Fujishiro. This is expected to be the complete cast for the anime’s inaugural season.
The anime is being directed by Yutaka Uemura at NUT studios, with series scripts supervised and written by Tomohiro Suzuki. Character design and animation direction are handled by Hiromi Taniguchi. The plot of Negative Positive Angler follows Tsunehiro Sasaki, a university student burdened by significant debt who learns he has only two years left to live. Struggling with depression, he finds himself pursued by a debt collector and ultimately falls into the sea.
Rescued by Hana Ayukawa, a fishing enthusiast with a close-knit group of fishing friends, including Takaaki Tsutsujimori, Tsunehiro is encouraged by Hana to explore fishing. This leads him to forge new friendships within the fishing community. As his circumstances improve, Tsunehiro finds himself working alongside Hana and Takaaki at the same convenience store, gradually becoming more passionate about fishing.
