Netflix Adds Terrifying Found-Footage Horror Movie with Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

One of the spookiest found-footage films ever produced, along with its sequel, can currently be streamed on Netflix.

While opinions may vary, found-footage remains a divisive sub-genre of horror. Personally, I consider The Blair Witch Project to be the pinnacle of horror (as do others), but some may find its use of shaky-cam techniques to be tiresome.

Despite its initial success in the 2000s, the format of movies has been continuously evolving with directors finding innovative ways to captivate audiences. A prime example of this is Cloverfield, which revolutionized sci-fi movies with its unique perspective of an alien Kaiju attack from a street-level view. Similarly, Chronicle also pushed boundaries and gained recognition as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made.

Nevertheless, when it comes to pure horror, a 2014 film could potentially be considered the greatest found-footage movie since Blair Witch – and not to mention, it also has a highly praised sequel, both of which are readily available on Netflix.

You Need to Watch Creep on Netflix

The film Creep is remarkable. Mark Duplass portrays Josef, a peculiar individual who is suffering from a terminal brain tumor. He enlists the help of a cameraman (Patrick Brice, who also directed the movie) to record a video diary for his unborn child. However, as the day progresses, Josef’s behavior becomes more and more unsettling for his guest.

Without giving away too much, I will say that Duplass delivers an outstanding horror performance in both Creep and Creep 2, possibly one of the best in the genre. Both films are currently available on Netflix for you to watch.

Don’t just take my word for it, if you’re still unsure, the first film holds a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the sequel boasts a perfect 100% rating. These films are the real deal.

“One Redditor shared their thoughts on the recent completion of this piece, exclaiming “My goodness!!!”They described the constant uneasiness and intense pacing throughout, and expressed appreciation for the shocking and unexpected ending. Overall, they thoroughly enjoyed this work.”

One person commented, saying that the movie was the first in a long time to give them intense fear. They were adamant about not watching it again, especially because of the unsettling final scene. They described it as sinister and the feeling of fear they experienced was so strong that they were now reliving it.

“Mark Duplass truly nails that role. I was constantly feeling uneasy and on edge while watching him. He’s definitely become one of my favorite actors,”a different commenter added.

For those who are already fans, there is good news: Duplass will be returning for The Creep Tapes, a television sequel to the films.

The show centers around a compilation of video recordings found in the hidden vault of the world’s most notorious and socially awkward serial killer. He lures his victims under false pretenses to film him for a day, and each episode reveals a new victim from the infamous Creep Tapes, according to the logline.
