Netflix has announced a sensational crossover, with two popular fighting-themed anime set to face off against each other.
During AnimeJapan 2024, Netflix announced that the anime protagonists Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura would compete to determine who is truly the best. Both focused on melee combat, they make an ideal pair for an epic melee.
Baki Hanma follows the eponymous fighter on a journey from underground hand-to-hand combat to martial arts championships. Kengan Ashura is a little darker, focusing on clandestine fights overseen by wealthy businessmen and where we witness the rise of a young fighter who climbs the ranks.

The announcement of this crossover clearly aroused strong reactions from fans on social networks, who can’t wait to see Baki, the son of the terrifying Yujiro Hanma also nicknamed “the strongest high school student in the world” , measure himself against to the formidable Niko style of Tokita Ohma, also known as “Ashura” .

Seeing Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura together on our screens may therefore seem surreal. Such a project shows Netflix’s investment and ambition in the anime space, with the company demonstrating that if the interest is there, anything can happen.
