Netflix Cancels The Outsider Starring Preacher’s Star After Long Absence

The month of August has been exceptionally successful for new additions on Netflix, as one phenomenal Western film has been added to the platform, causing concern among subscribers.

With the Western renaissance in full swing, it comes as no surprise that Netflix has included That Dirty Black Bag in its lineup of new TV shows this month. Set to debut in 2022, the show offers a gritty and modern twist on the classic Spaghetti Western genre.

The streaming service added the entire season of That Dirty Black Bag on August 19, making it the only season available. Although there are other exciting shows like Interview with the Vampire, The Terror, and Mayfair Witches that were added this month, Western fans will find satisfaction in That Dirty Black Bag.

Taking place over the course of eight days in the Wild West, the production tells the story of Sheriff Arthur McCoy and his unexpected involvement with the infamous bounty hunter Red Bill. Red Bill is notorious for his gruesome practice of decapitating his targets and keeping their heads in a grimy black bag.

Dominic Cooper, the lead actor of Preacher, stars as McCoy alongside Douglas Booth and Aidan Gillen. Interestingly, Preacher is one of the newest additions on Netflix this month, giving viewers the opportunity to watch back-to-back on Cooper’s most thrilling (and violent) projects.

Currently, the show has a rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics commending its use of gore and dark humor.

Slant Magazine stated that while That Dirty Black Bag contains plenty of gruesome images, the series also has a darkly humorous tone.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the true source of enjoyment and fascination in That Dirty Black Bag lies not in its adherence to traditional westerns, but in its unique alterations to the genre.

The audience response has been overwhelmingly positive. In a fan review (link: https://www.imdb.com/review/rw8009389/), one person stated, “This show surpasses 99% of the shows released in the last 5 years. The pacing is spot on and the cinematography rivals that of top-notch films. The characters are well-developed and not merely serving the plot.”

The existing plots are expertly crafted and progress at an excellent pace. The actors appear to be thoroughly enjoying themselves. I highly recommend this show and hope it continues for a lengthy run!”

Despite the lack of news about a second season or cancellation, the show has seemingly disappeared since its first season. Therefore, it is advisable to approach That Dirty Black Bag with realistic expectations – it is definitely worth watching, but there may not be any future episodes.
