Netflix Fans Criticize Joe Rogan’s Latest Special Despite Reaching #1 Spot

Despite the streaming service receiving praise for its stand-up comedy specials, Joe Rogan’s most recent performance on Netflix has been heavily criticized as “extremely unfunny.”

The American entertainment personality has gained widespread recognition for his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. However, his views on vaccines, the LGBTQ+ community, and online misinformation have caused a divide among audiences.

Recently, Joe Rogan’s third comedy special, Burn the Boats, was released on Netflix. However, it has not been well received by the streaming service’s subscribers, airing on August 3.

“I am well-versed in comedy and have a great appreciation for it. However, I find Joe Rogan’s ‘comedy’ to be lacking, not because he pushes boundaries, but because it is simply not funny. He includes unnecessary elements just to gain the support of those who would applaud him for being edgy, as seen in a post made by a fan on X/Twitter (link to post).”

Another person added their opinion, stating, “It’s always interesting when Joe Rogan puts out a comedy special and reminds us all just how awkward and unamusing he can be. His material seems to revolve around weed, aliens, and vaccines, and I gave up after just nine minutes.”

“According to a third commentator, Joe Rogan has never been funny, even when his podcast was considered watchable, as his humor was never the main attraction.”

As anticipated, the new TV show has also received negative reviews from critics.

According to Louis Chilton from The Independent, Joe Rogan’s recent role as Netflix’s “poster-boy-of-the-week”serves as a reminder of the challenges one must overcome to achieve success in the world of comedy. Chilton believes that if comedy is solely based on jokes, it would not be an issue.

Sean L. McCarthy of The Daily Beast concurred, stating, “Joe Rogan is contributing to the strange atmosphere in Austin, but not in a positive manner.”

According to The Wrap’s Matthew Creith, if you are familiar with Rogan, you already know what to expect from this special, even though the title may need to be explained to those who are not familiar with the idiom it references.

Rogan himself was satisfied with the outcome, taking to Twitter to express his gratitude, “Thank you for tuning in! It was quite an exhilarating experience. I want to give a special shoutout to the incredible audience in San Antonio for being so fantastic… what an incredible journey.”
