Ever since the end of The Walking Dead and the distant release of The Last of Us Season 2, it seems like a long time has passed without a satisfying zombie horror story to indulge in. Even horror movies have been lacking, choosing to focus on serial killers or deranged clowns instead of the undead.
Despite its initial release in 2019, many Netflix users believe that the ultimate zombie series has been right in front of us all along: Black Summer. This show takes place in the Z Nation universe and centers around a special forces team as they navigate the apocalypse.
According to one fan on X/Twitter, Black Summer is one of the greatest zombie shows they have seen in a long time.
After watching three episodes of Black Summer, I have to say that this show is some of the best zombie apocalypse content I have ever seen,”another person commented on Twitter.
A third individual expressed their disappointment at Netflix’s decision to cancel Black Summer, stating that it was the best zombie show they had ever seen and was left on a major cliffhanger.
According to another viewer, Black Summer on Netflix was exceptional, with Season 2 featuring some of the most authentic gunfights ever seen on screen.
Despite its popularity, Black Summer received insufficient support from Netflix and did not get renewed for a third season. The second season, which premiered in 2021, ended with a significant cliffhanger.
Despite initial hints that Black Summer Season 3 would be released in August 2023, the season did not end up premiering at that time.

However, this is all just a rough idea and nothing is set in stone.”
Despite this, there are still two incredible seasons of Zombie madness to watch. The highly-addictive TV show can currently be streamed on the service.
