Netflix is Bringing Some of the Best ’80s Movies Back to Theaters

In honor of the year 1984, Netflix is bringing back some of the top movies from that year to be shown in chosen theaters.

Netflix is honoring the timeless era of cinema with Milestone Movies: The Anniversary Collection — 1984. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of 1984, a groundbreaking year for remarkable films, the streaming service will be showcasing popular movies from that year in theaters throughout the United States.

The collection will be accessible for streaming on Netflix, in addition to its selection of both classic and modern films, and will feature iconic theaters such as the Paris Theater in New York, the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, and the Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades, California.

In January 2024, the Milestone Movies concept was first introduced by the streaming service, featuring a lineup of films from the year 1974, such as Blazing Saddles and Chinatown, in celebration of their releases.

The 1984 collection will feature a variety of films, including the top-grossing movies of the year, as well as independent and auteur selections and a special “Fantastic Adventures”collection. The complete list of re-released films from April 12 to May 9 can be found below.
