Netflix Romantic Comedy Series Achieves Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Rating, Surpassing Monsters

Despite dominating the top position in Netflix’s TV rankings since its launch, Monsters has now been pushed to number two by a new romantic comedy series.

In recent weeks, true crime and murder mysteries have been Netflix’s main draw for viewers, particularly with the debut of shows like Monsters Season 2 and The Perfect Couple.

However, it appears that even with the backlash surrounding Ryan Murphy’s latest project on the streaming platform, another show has climbed to the top spot.

Nobody Wants This, a ten-episode series featuring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, is now ruling the platform with a remarkable 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Loosely inspired by events from Erin Foster’s real life, Nobody Wants This revolves around Joanne (played by Bell), a sex and dating podcaster, who finds herself falling for Noah (played by Brody), a rabbi.

The series features a classic romantic comedy “will they/won’t they” storyline, as the relationship between Joanne and Noah faces constant challenges due to their contrasting lifestyles.

Foster experienced a similar scenario when she met Simon Tikhman at a Los Angeles gym in 2018. While Tikhman wasn’t a rabbi, he expressed that “Whoever I marry, she has to be Jewish.”

Although she is not religious, the writer converted to Judaism before marrying Tikhman in 2019. The couple continues to reside in California with their four-month-old daughter named Noa.

The authenticity that Foster infused into Nobody Wants This contributes significantly to its success, as one fan wrote on X/Twitter, “I can finally say that NOBODY WANTS THIS is perfect. A romcom that is genuinely romance AND comedy.”

Another viewer commented, “I don’t know how it took this long for someone to cast Adam Brody and Kristen Bell together in a TV show, but whoever decided to do it, THANK YOU! This show exceeded all my expectations! I need a second season, ASAP!”

A third fan remarked, “Nobody Wants This is SOOOOOO good! I’ve been giggling and kicking my feet the entire time.”
