Netflix’s highly successful true crime series Untold continues with its latest installment, this time focusing on the NFL. However, viewers have expressed disappointment with The Murder of Air McNair, as they feel that something crucial is missing from the story.
It’s easy to find compelling new true crime and documentaries on Netflix. With options like American Murder and The Man with 1000 Kids, we are truly spoiled for choice.
As a treat for sports enthusiasts, the intensity level has been raised with the debut of Untold: The Murder of Air McNair. The show portrays the story of NFL legend Steve “Air” McNair, who was tragically killed in 2009, documenting his journey to stardom on the football field and his unexpected demise.
Despite its overall popularity, fans of the series were disappointed by the latest installment as they felt it ended too abruptly without providing sufficient resolution.
“After watching Untold: The Murder of Air McNair on Netflix, I was saddened by the tragic end to his life despite all his accomplishments. However, I am confused about the true culprit. It appears that there may have been some shortcomings in the investigation,”one fan shared on X/Twitter.
A second individual also shared their thoughts on the murder of Air McNair, stating that things do not seem to add up in terms of who is responsible. They described it as a wild and intriguing case.
The conversation appeared to have ended suddenly. It appears that there was more that could have been discussed,”added a third participant.
Despite The Guardian’s urging for viewers to “save yourself an hour and just Google it”in its review, it’s not just fans who are feeling slightly disgruntled.
McNair’s narrative is part of a larger true crime documentary format, therefore it was allotted only one 58-minute episode to cover as much ground as possible.
A few fans proposed that the case would have been better portrayed as a mini-series rather than being linked to the Untold franchise.
“Another person agreed, stating that it exceeded their expectations and could have even been made into a mini-series.”
Despite expectations, reliving McNair’s story proved to be a more emotional experience for long-time NFL fans. At the age of 36, McNair was discovered dead in downtown Nashville in 2009, alongside 20-year-old Sahel “Jenni”Kazemi, with multiple gunshot wounds. The police determined the incident to be a murder-suicide, with Kazemi as the responsible party.
One user wrote that the Murder of Air McNair documentary is a must-watch. They had always believed that McNair’s mistress killed him and then committed suicide, but after watching the documentary, they are unsure.
