This anime adaptation, based on Yuto Suzuki’s celebrated manga, is poised to enrich Netflix’s anime offerings. The narrative follows Taro Sakamoto, a retired hitman reminiscent of John Wick, who now manages a quaint convenience store.
Despite his unassuming appearance in his new life, Sakamoto retains lethal skills. However, his aspirations for a serene existence with his loved ones face disruption from past adversaries.
Release Date and Trailer for Sakamoto Days
Scheduled to debut on January 11, many viewers may opt for the Japanese version with English subtitles. Nevertheless, Netflix has revealed the English dub cast alongside a fresh trailer.
The English voice cast features notable talents including Matthew Mercer (known for Blood of Zeus) as Taro Sakamoto, Dallas Liu (from Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender) as Shin Asakura, and Rosalie Chiang (from Turning Red) as Lu Shaotang.
Additionally, Rosie Okumura voices Aoi Sakamoto, and Xolo Maridueña, recognized for his role as Miguel Diaz in Cobra Kai, lends his voice to Heisuke Mashimo. The cast also includes Aleks Le from Solo Leveling as Nagumo and WWE superstar Lexi Cabrera, known as Alexa Bliss, portraying Obiguro.
Completing the voice cast are SungWon Cho (famous for Delicious in Dungeon) as Boiled, Du-Shaunt “Fik-Shun” Stegall as Son Hee, and Toru Uchikado (known from Castlevania) as Bacho.
The official Sakamoto Days trailer was unveiled last month, but this latest version showcasing the English dub promises added action sequences—a crucial aspect that manga enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating.
As highlighted by one user on Reddit, “The number one thing the anime needs to ace is the action scenes. They’re legendary and deserve the most focus.”This sentiment underscores the high expectations fans have for the adaptation.
