Netflix’s Live-Action Scooby-Doo Sparks Demand from Fans

Although Netflix has recently announced the development of a new live-action Scooby-Doo TV show, fans are already fixated on one particular aspect.

Despite varying opinions, it is undeniable that Scooby-Doo has had numerous on-screen adaptations. From the well-received 2000s live-action movies to the more recent and controversial Velma animated series, the beloved character’s story continues to evolve.

Netflix is now joining the ranks with a new live-action TV show in the works, aiming to claim a slice of the action. This highly-anticipated one-hour drama is reportedly close to securing a deal with the streaming service. However, devoted Scooby-Doo fans are vocal about their desires, demanding just one thing: the return of the original cast.

It should be noted that this is not the original cast from the 1960s animated series. Instead, this refers to the ensemble of Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, and Matthew Lillard. This talented group successfully portrayed James Gunns’ unconventional screenplay, solidifying themselves as the quintessential Mystery, Inc. for a whole generation.

“A fan expressed their strong opinion on X, stating that they only want a live-action remake if it includes the original cast. Others shared this sentiment, with comments such as “You will never be them”and “Quite honestly they could just hire the cast from the first movies and it would be perfect.”echoing the sentiment.”

“Another asked, ‘What’s the point if Matthew isn’t involved?’”

Someone else commented: “It’s a shame because we’ll never see such incredible casting choices again, so there’s no use in hoping for it.”

Despite no plot synopsis being released for the upcoming Netflix Scooby-Doo show, it is uncertain if it will follow the usual formula of the gang solving mysteries or if there will be a unique twist. However, it has been confirmed that the series will be based on the beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoon and will be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.

Rosenberg is known for writing Con Air, High Fidelity, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in the past.
