Netflix’s upcoming live-action adaptation of One Piece has announced the casting for Dr. Kureha in Season 2, and while it may not be Jamie Lee Curtis, the decision has been met with equal enthusiasm.
The second season of the live-action One Piece is currently in the works, with new information being unveiled as filming progresses. The most recent update includes the announcement of the actors playing the roles of Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk.
Mark Harelik is portraying the latter character. Although fans had hoped for Jamie Lee Curtis to play the former, it has been confirmed that she will not be taking on the role. However, the chosen actor is receiving positive feedback from viewers.

The One Piece live-action TV show has cast Katey Segal, known for her roles in Sons of Anarchy, Futurama, and Married with Children, as Dr Kureha.
With her considerable presence in the television industry, she not only brings a wealth of experience to the role and franchise, but she also possesses a striking resemblance to the character, with her long wavy hair and similar physique.
“While many were hoping for Jamie Lee Curtis, Sagal was ultimately chosen for the role and I believe she is a fantastic choice. She is sure to bring the same level of energy that is expected for Kureha,”one commenter expressed on Reddit. Another commenter chimed in, stating, “I actually think she is a better fit for the role.”
“You all can’t even imagine how well-suited Katey Sagal is for this casting. She will absolutely nail this role,”a third person commented.
Despite the pressure of having someone like Curtis praised for the role, which could have set an unattainable standard for Netflix and producers, they have successfully overcome it by finding an ideal replacement.
This announcement follows closely behind Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, revealing a surprising alteration to Season 2. The success of the first season appears to have boosted everyone’s confidence, resulting in bold creative decisions that have proven fruitful thus far.
Remember, Netflix is also working on The One Piece, in addition to their collaboration with the Straw Hats.
