This month, the streaming service is adding a slate of new TV shows, including The Terror, Interview with the Vampire, Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, and Preacher. While all of these shows offer supernatural scares, The Terror stands out as the most terrifying of them all.
With a current score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and an Audience Score of 88%, The Terror made its debut in 2018. This horror anthology series delves into dramatized interpretations of actual historical occurrences.
The initial season centers on the failed voyage of Captain Sir John Franklin to the Arctic, chronicling the experiences of a crew aboard two Royal Navy ships as they become trapped in the frozen expanse of the Northwest Passage.
The second season, which aired in 2019, is set during World War II and explores the Japanese mythology of bakemono – also referred to as shapeshifters. A third season, titled Devil in Silver, has been approved and is scheduled to debut in 2025.
Despite being an underrated gem in the horror TV genre, The Terror has garnered praise for its eerie atmosphere and haunting themes. Fortunately, the first season of the show is now available on Netflix, although it is currently the only season offered on the platform. (For now.)
The availability of the TV show on the streamer has brought great joy to its fans. In fact, one X user expressed their excitement by saying, “I might have to call out of work because I can’t resist a 10-hour binge.”
“I understand that everyone will be focused on Interview with the Vampire (and rightfully so), but I urge you to also watch Season 1 of The Terror. It is incredibly well-made and features some outstanding performances,”suggested another person.
“As The Terror is now available on Netflix, I find myself once again reflecting on the numerous expressions and moments that have left a lasting impression on me,”shared a third individual from the community.
