Tomb Raider anime to be released on October 10, 2024
The recently released preview trailer for the Tomb Raider anime opens with a focused shot of Lara Croft, the main character of the series, as she embarks on a solo journey into an enigmatic location. The trailer features anime-style animations and stunning depictions of underwater and sky landscapes.
The trailer featured Lara Croft and her loyal friend and subordinate, Jonah Maiava. It concluded with the title of the anime, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and the Netflix logo. The series is an adaptation of the popular action-adventure game franchise, Tomb Raider, originally created by Core Design.
The Journey of the Tomb Raider Anime
Despite its initial announcement in January 2021, the Tomb Raider anime has faced numerous challenges. Although the staff was mostly confirmed and the adaptation was ready to begin, the writer’s room fell apart, resulting in a delay for the anime.
In the United States, it is common for a group of writers to gather in a room to work together on a script. Unfortunately, there was a disagreement among some of the writers which resulted in the delay of the anime adaptation. However, for dedicated fans of Tomb Rider, there is good news as the series will finally be released on September 27, 2023, and will begin airing on October 10, 2024, on Netflix.
Powerhouse Animation Studios, an English animation studio, will be responsible for creating the animated series. It is noteworthy that the studio has previously worked on well-known anime series such as Castlevania and Blood of Zeus, leading to high expectations for the upcoming Tomb Raider anime.
Hayley Atwell will be providing the voice for Lara Croft, the main character in the series. Earl Baylon, who previously voiced the character in the game series, will also be voicing Lara Croft’s trusted companion, Jonah Maiava. Allen Maldonado has been cast as the voice of Zip, another one of Lara Croft’s loyal subordinates.
Synopsis of the Tomb Raider anime
Despite the lack of an official synopsis for this anime, as of the time this article was published, it is expected to continue the story from the Survivor trilogy of the game series (specifically Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider).
The central concept of the anime would remain consistent with the game series, following Lara Croft and her team as they delve into various regions of the world to unravel its secrets.
