Neve Campbell: Why I Agreed to Star in Scream VII

Despite her absence in the most recent Scream movie due to a pay dispute, Neve Campbell will be making a comeback in Part VII. The actress has recently shared the reason behind her return.

Neve Campbell portrayed Sidney Prescott in all five Scream films, engaging in a fierce confrontation with the menacing Ghostface and earning the admiration of fans as a cherished ‘Scream Queen’.

Despite a widely publicized dispute over her salary, during which Campbell felt she was not being properly compensated, the actress ultimately decided to leave the franchise. As a result, Sidney was absent from Scream VI.

In her interview with People in 2022, she expressed her disappointment in the offer she received, stating that it did not reflect the value she has brought to the franchise for the past 25 years.

Thanks to an interview with the actress, Campbell has shared the reason for her return to Scream VII, which goes beyond a higher salary.

“According to Campbell, she will be following Sidney in the upcoming project as she reveals to Entertainment Tonight. She also shares that the concept was pitched to her and it was the deciding factor for her to join the project.”

Campbell expresses his love for the series and its legacy, stating that being a part of these movies has been an incredibly fun and rewarding experience. He expresses his gratitude for the opportunity, and admits that he could have never imagined being a part of a film franchise that has endured for so many decades.

The director of Scream VII will be Kevin Williamson, known for writing the original Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 4. The script is currently being written by Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt, although Campbell mentioned in the interview that she has not yet had the opportunity to review the final version.

The seventh installment of Scream is set to be released in 2025.
