On July 7, 2024, VIZ Media’s official X account (@VIZMedia) posted a video introducing the staff members for Bleach TYBW part 3. The short clip revealed that Hikaru Murata has taken over as the new series director, while Tomohisa Taguchi has been appointed as the general director and series composer alongside Hiramatsu.

Before this, Hikaru Murata had been involved in creating storyboards for several episodes in the first two cours of the anime. He also took on the roles of director for episodes 14 and 26, ensuring that the series maintained its exceptional animation quality. Interestingly, the most recent video showcases Hikaru-san and other staff members discussing the highlights for the upcoming release of Bleach TYBW part 3.

According to the brief video, Hikaru Murata, the new director, expressed his commitment to maintaining the animation quality set by the entire staff in part 2. In response to inquiries about possible changes, he mentioned that he intends to incorporate more CGI in part 3 in order to enhance the animation quality.

As many fans may recall, the previous installment made use of CGI in several crucial scenes. One such example was the depiction of Sajin Komamura’s Bankai, Kokujo Tengen Myo-oh: Dangai Joue, which was a significant moment where the production team incorporated CGI.

In addition, numerous other scenes incorporated inconspicuous CGIs to enhance the 2D drawings. CGI, or computer-generated imagery, is commonly utilized to elevate the visual aesthetics of an animated sequence, a technique that has been utilized in anime for a considerable period of time.

Despite not always providing a pleasant viewing experience, there are certain instances where CGI can greatly enhance the visual impact of a moving sequence. A prime example of this was seen in part 1, with the use of CGI in Yamamoto Genryusai’s Bankai, which created a captivating spectacle by seamlessly integrating with 2D drawing.

It is noteworthy that Bleach TYBW part 3 contains multiple instances in which the use of CGI can either be successful or disappointing. The upcoming sequel will showcase Mayuri’s battle against Pernida, and if CGI is used sparingly, the Sternritter’s ultimate form could be portrayed exceptionally well.

Despite a common belief that incorporating CGI can have a negative impact on the visual appeal of an episode, there are actually several technical aspects of CGI that can greatly enhance the overall viewing experience. This was demonstrated in the production of Ichigo vs Ebern, where the use of CGI backgrounds effectively highlighted certain sequences.

In addition to Mayuri’s battle against Pernida, Bleach TYBW part 3 will also showcase Shunsui facing off against Lille Barro. This fight may once again utilize CGI, as it would be challenging to accurately portray the Schutzstaffel’s Godly form without its use. Furthermore, certain scenes involving Shunsui’s Bankai may also require the assistance of CGI technology.

Additionally, the recently released teaser for Bleach TYBW part 3 hinted at the possibility of creatures descending from the Soul King’s palace, potentially utilizing CGI. Similarly, Pierrot Films may also employ this technology for Ichibei’s final trump card against Yhwach. This indicates that there are multiple instances in the upcoming installment where CGI could be utilized.

Despite the inherent fear associated with CGI, it is important for fans to acknowledge that Bleach TYBW part 3 will be created by Pierrot’s subsidiary studio, Pierrot Films, which was established with the goal of providing fans with a cinematic experience.
