New Character Unveiled in Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Following the Series Conclusion

Jujutsu Kaisen manga continues to surprise fans even after its conclusion, as Gege Akutami reveals a new character design.

Chapter 271 signifies the end of the beloved Jujutsu Kaisen manga. Yet, Gege Akutami unexpectedly introduces a new character design for the first-grade sorcerer, Usami. Much about this character, including his full name, remains a mystery within the manga.

In Chapter 253, during a discussion among sorcerers about the strongest first-grade sorcerer, Kusakabe mentions that it’s someone other than him or Usami. However, an additional page from Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 28, set to release on December 25, 2024, showcases Usami’s character design.

This extra page also reveals the opinions of various characters about Usami, with most expressing dislike for him. Kusakabe comments that Usami only follows orders from higher-ups and gives off a negative vibe.

Moreover, Gojo has a strong aversion towards Usami, which aligns with Gojo’s historical opposition to the higher-ups. Interestingly, Mei Mei dismisses Usami, stating there’s no need to remember him.

Fans have mixed reactions regarding the introduction of this character shortly after the Jujutsu Kaisen conclusion. One fan expressed, “Releasing new characters after hastening the ending? Gege has robbed us of a generational storyline.”

Another fan voiced their frustration, stating, “This off-screen worldbuilding and character introduction Gege does is easily the dumbest thing to ever happen in all of Jujutsu Kaisen.” Source

Additionally, another fan questioned, “Is Gege introducing new characters after the series ended for no reason? Is a part 2 on the horizon?”

However, fans are not particularly hopeful about a sequel to the manga. One user remarked, “Usami isn’t a new character. This is just Gege assigning a design to someone who was mentioned randomly a while back.”
