New Clues About the Cow Level in Diablo 4 Update 2.0’s PTR

New Clues About the Cow Level in Diablo 4 Update 2.0’s PTR

The data found in the PTR of the Diablo 4 2.0 update provides further evidence of a potential cow level that may be added to the game in the future.

The prevalence of rumors about a non-existent cow level in the original Diablo was so great that the developers decided to include hidden cow-focused content in the sequel.

Players who successfully defeated D2 and diligently followed certain steps were able to uncover the elusive level and confront the powerful Hell Bovines, bovine creatures armed with polearms and walking on two legs. This joke was later revisited in a hidden zone in Diablo 3, giving rise to speculation that the upcoming sequel in 2023 would also feature a similar surprise. However, this turned out not to be the case.

Additionally, evidence discovered by Diablo 4 players suggests the possibility of a cow level. Further clues have been revealed by Wowhead through data found in the game’s 2.0 PTR.

One object discovered in the data is a weapon known as the Rusted Bardiche, whose description states that it has a strong odor of manure, potentially hinting at a connection to cows.

Notably, the Cow King had enchanted a Legendary Bovine Bardiche in Diablo 3, which allowed players to access a secret level. In the future, the Rusted Bardiche may serve as a similar means of unlocking hidden content.

Upon further investigation, Wowhead also discovered four quest items that appear to be a nod to relics from Diablo 3 that played a crucial role in unlocking the game’s hidden level, Whimsyshire.

The items found through data mining in Diablo 4, such as the Crooked Staff, Jabbering Gemstone, Rusted Old Bell, and Unusual Key, could potentially be similar to D3’s Staff of Herding, Gibbering Gemstone, and Wirt’s Bell.

If the upcoming relics in Diablo 4 share any similarities with the presumed relics in D3, it is possible that the highly sought-after cow level will be included in the 2.0 update.

Additional information about the issue may become available as PC players try out Update 2.0 on the PTR. The Public Test Realm will be available from September 4 to September 11, concluding just a few weeks before the update launches alongside Season 6 on October 8.
