Despite being destined for greatness, Light Yagami’s life takes a dark turn when he stumbles upon a magical notebook that grants him the power to end someone’s life simply by writing their name in it. In addition, the notebook also gives him the ability to specify the cause of death, with a heart attack being the default option. This discovery alters the course of Light’s future and challenges his morals.

Upon encountering a Shinigami named Ryuk, the notebook’s rightful owner, the protagonist learns that Ryuk had intentionally dropped it into the human world out of boredom and a desire to witness chaos among humanity. Motivated by this discovery, Light resolves to utilize the notebook to bring justice to criminals and take on the moniker of Kira, “the god of the new world”.

Nevertheless, L Lawliet, renowned as the world’s most brilliant detective, chooses to undertake this case, thus initiating a fierce competition of intellect and cunning.
